During a recent live chat at the New York Ranger website, Jim Cerny reports that Chris Kreider's ankle, which had a bone chip due to a blocked shot while playing for the Whale during the lockout, is still not 100%.
Cerny did add that Kreider expects the ankle to be 100% by camp.
Kreider was originally said to be ok, but was eventually shut down for a week after struggling with the injury to start the NHL season.
...not going to blame the ankle for Kreider's inconsistencies last season, as he struggled with the Whale during the lockout before the injury. Relieved to hear he'll be completely healed by camp.
...despite the bum ankle, I'm expecting Kreider to flourish in AV's system which emphasizes skating and play making. I'm fully expecting a 25-30 goal season.
Good luck Krieder. Not really any excuses this year and we are going to get a real accurate idea of where he stands compared to the other players, I hope he steps up and suceeds well.AV has a system that allows offensive talent to flourish, so this is Krieder's chance, He doesn't want to be in AVs doghouse, which is reportedly hard to get out of, so he has to give his110 % best effort all the time.If he gets the points, its the best answer for him.
@NYR44 Agreed that I probably overshot with that prediction, but if the Rangers are going to be successful this year he might need that kind of season. Nash and to a smaller extent Brassard are the only two pure goal scorers on the team.
@TheWrage Yeah, might have gone overboard with that prediction.
@KevinDeLury i dunno. he's got all of the tools. hes being set up for success with the new coaching and the new team philosophy. one thing is for sure, he has a chance to go out, have fun and not play from a place of messing up. he could do it IMHO.
