Rangers Sign Gilroy to NHL Contract
Written by Kevin DeLury on .
Larry Brooks at the NY Post reports that the Rangers have signed Matt Gilroy to a $650,000, one-year deal.
Gilroy has 6g, 9a in 34 games with the Whale this season and is a -16.
...nothing wrong with a little depth on the blueline.
...while he has been horrific defensively with the Whale this season, he could be used if the Rangers power play faulters again this year.

I like Gilroy. I think it's a good depth move and can even play on the 3rd or 4th line if we want to shake things up.
agreed, and I think he and Del Zotto will push each other as they battle for a spot on the 3rd combo
@AnnoyingJoe I like that 3rd pairing under the right circumstances. They could create some offense if the maintain some defensive responsibily.
@JaredAnnibale He's a 7th defenseman tops. I wouldn't worry about seeing too much of him?
@KevinDeLury @JaredAnnibale I guess that's a good thing then. I thought Torts wasn't a fan of him.
Our defense will be just as good as last year though, especially if Staal steps it up. I thought Staal played very poorly last year especially in the corners and in front of the crease. All my friends think I'm crazy.
@JaredAnnibale @KevinDeLury I wouldn't say that he played poorly. He was coming back form a concussion.
