Rangers Recall Segal; Kolarik Not Claimed

Written by Kevin DeLury on .

According to Melissa Andus at Black and Blueshirts, the AHL transaction list reports that the Rangers have recalled Brandon Segal.

Segal has 9g, 7a in 38 games with the Whale this season.

The 29-year old Segal has played 102 NHL games with Tampa, Dallas and Los Angeles.

...with Asham suspended for the first game and Bickel likely to take is spot on the wing, this is a smart move by the Rangers to have an emergency forward. Doubt he sees any game action.

Andus also notes that none of the Whale players waived yesterday, including Chad Kolarik, were claimed today.

...pleasantly surprised that Kolarik wasn't claimed.

Looks like we're restocking our supply of Brandons.

I like this Mashinter kid we traded for. 6'4 240 or 230 I can't remember. Looks like he can score a bit and throw hammers! He fought George Parros and had a good tilt until Parros put his Mashinters head between his elbow and the ice. He had a nice fight with Bickle in the AHL. I like this move just for a bit more grit. When he's with the Whale teams better look out for him and McIlrath!

Do you think anyone is ever actually "stolen" off waivers? I am not sure I have ever heard it. I kinda feel like there is an unspoken thing where teams agree when something like that is gonna happen out of mutual respect...

@CJ isn't that how we got Stralman or Bickle? I can't remember. But ya it does happen.
