Rangers Not Practicing Power Play

Written by Kevin DeLury on .

Steve Zipay at Newsday reports that the Rangers have not been practicing the power play during training camp.

Zipay feels Brad Richards' absence could be the reason.

...wha, wha, what? I thought training camp was the exact time a team should be working on special teams. The Rangers 23rd ranked power play was easily to blame for 5 or 6 losses last year and don't get me started on the playoff futility. Add trying to integrate Nash into the equation and this is all very puzzling.

What's so hard...3 guys in the right corner, MDZ at the point and Nash in front.  Get the puck to MDZ, when he misses the net by 12 feet, it comes around into the corner, pass to Nash, goal!!

@KevinDeLury @gravey94 does that mean you think someone forgot to tell Nash that the Rangers DON'T shoot especially on PP's?!?

Bettman got rid of the power play in the new CBA

MDZ bomb from the outside, create traffic front in front ,

and shove the rebound into the back of net!!

so simple.....

@snadboy except that the Rangers would actually have to shoot on net!

Nash's presence alone won't be enough, they need some schemes but with only 3 days left, it makes sense to focus on 5x5 and the overall praw-cess.

Rangers' fans have been complaining about the power play since 1926. Maybe this will work! ;-)

I think the power play strategy is simple: Pass the puck to Nash.
