Rangers Cap Situation & How it Affects Del Zotto

Written by Kevin DeLury on .

Cap Geek has the Rangers at $59,258,334 cap hit this season (w/o Redden) and new CBA allows $70.2 million of spending this year.

Cap ceiling goes down to $64.3 million next season, but Rangers will obviously use one of their buyouts on Redden this summer.

...looks like more than enough room to get Del Zotto locked up for the next three years between $1.5 million and $2 million as well as a one-year deal for Gilroy at $800,000.

...would love to see Miller on the roster, proved with Whale he can play the pro game. Hope he's strong enough to make the jump to this level. Though, I don't know if there's a spot for him. He'd have to be on third line.

first off, i'm beyond excited to be finally talking about ACTUAL HOCKEY again...

this $6M figure is great news.  We can get MDZ locked up for a few years and have some wiggle room to add an extra body if we need to.

I am starting to think that given Kreider's underwhelming performance thus far in the AHL, we should be looking at acquiring a forward for 3rd/4th line and PK duties.  I'd rather have Krieder play 20 min a night in CT and get some confidence before he gets to Broadway.  I don't think Haley or Asham are up to the task of playing more than 6 min a night. Maybe a guy like Eric Fehr or Dominic Moore?

I hope Sather is on the phone telling him how much he sucks and that he will give him next to nothing for the next 5 years. LET THE JEDI MIND TRICKS BEGIN!!!
