CBS Sports dropped the Rangers six spots from their preseason ranking to #8 in their first power rankings of the season...
8. Rangers - They are 0-2, but look who they played; teams Nos. 1 and 4 on this list. Next up? No. 4 again, the Bruins ... So far Nash is looking like a great addition, but the rest of the holdovers, including Lundqvist, just aren't sharp yet.
Meanwhile, The Hockey News has the Rangers at #6 after being blanked this past weekend...
6. Rangers - The Blueshirts didn’t fare too well over opening weekend, recording back-to-back losses against key foes. Before we get carried away, we’ll chalk up the slow start to the team needing a little time to find its new chemistry.
...i know these rankings mean absolutely nothing, but I always find them interesting to follow.
...i was only able to find these two rankings as of now, but as more media outlets release them I'll be sure to post.
Gotta admit that we have started the season against tough teams. I think a win tonight could go a long way. If they get a penalty in the first 2 minutes we're screwed.
Gotta disagree with the CBS assessment of Hank. He has looked remarkably sharp, especially when compared to the rest of the team. But I do agree with you that the power rankings are interesting anyway.
@GLENsatherVSglennDANZIG -- Seriously, man, hopefully after these first two games guys can have enough discipline to at least stay out of the box for stupid penalties.
