NHL Season to Most Likely Open January 19th

Written by Kevin DeLury on .

Elliotte Friedman at Hockey Night in Canada reports that the NHL sent a memo to every club indicating no camps can start before Saturday and that a 48-game season will begin on January 19.

Pierre LeBrun at ESPN.com adds that if the radification process goes fast, January 15th is still in play to start the season.

According to Josh Rimer, the new, completely in-conference schedules will be announced Thursday or Friday.

...we're most likely going to see five games against each Atlantic Division rival and three against the rest of the Eastern Conference. Wow, every game is going to be so crucial.

Great article Kevin DeLury. In my opinion this is how the season should be with 50 games and every game being crucial just like the NFL.
