Nash-Richards-Gaborik Finally Together

Written by Kevin DeLury on .

It only took five months, but Andrew Gross at the Bergen Record reports that Rick Nash, Brad Richards and Marian Gaborik finally practiced on a line together during informals today.

Here's Nash on playing with his new teammates...

“It’s fun to play with them, it seems like they always find you. We’ve got to make sure we get some chemistry quick. We’ve got to figure it out pretty quick. It’s a matter of getting back to game speed. No matter what we do (here), it doesn’t compare to game speed.”

...i'm not going to get too excited about these guys playing together because we Rangers fans have seen our share of sure things blowup. See Jagr-Gomez and Richards-Gabborik. Having said that, I'm effin pump!!!!!!!

...also if we've learned anything during Torts' tenure, lines are never set in stone. And he hasn't even been overseeing these practices.

Other lines at practice were...

Carl Hagelin-Derek Stepan-Ryan Callahan
Chris Kreider-Brian Boyle-Taylor Pyatt
Arron Asham-Jeff Halpern-Mike Rupp

...c'mon, got to get Kreider back on that line with Step and Cally. USA! USA! USA!

In other camp news, Larry Brooks at the New York Post reports that prospect Marek Hrivik is not skating with Rangers as he sustained a concussion last game with the Whale.

...while Hrivik was a long shot to make the team, I was looking forward to see how he held up against NHL competition. Hope the concussion is not too serious.

As much as i would like the USA line of Kreider, Step, and Cally, that third line of giants would be dominating on both ends of the ice. Kreider 6' 3" 230 lbs, Boyle 6'7" 245 lbs, and Pyatt 6'4" 230 lbs, watch the hell out. That line as a whole would be a freight train running through any thing that gets in their way

@MattyC31 Kreider and Stepan showed some good chemistry in the playoffs last year. Not sure if was some sort of carry over from playing together in the WJC, or what.

My initial thought is that we'd have to curb our expectations for Kreider's production if he's being centered by Boyle, but maybe something clicks with Pyatt and they can get Boyle back to his 20-goal-season form.

You think they keep that top line? I say torts doesnt go with that, but through out the season through his constant changing of lines itll happen. I think Itll be nash-richards-hags/cally. Then gabbi-step-hags/cally. Also krieder (depending on play) floats around on those two lines.

If Halpern's willing to drop the gloves, but put Bickel on D and we could start every game against the SwampRats with a 4-on-4 line brawl.

PS. Love the GNR Line name! Maybe someone from MSG will see this and cue up Welcome to the Jungle on the PA System for this season.
