Rick Nash has 1 goal on 26 shots. As well as he has played, and it has been very, very well, that's somewhat of a problem.— Dave Lozo (@DaveLozo) January 30, 2013
Nash has five assists and is a +5.
...you know what's strange, until I saw this tweet I didn't even notice. His game is so complete, he's been helping the Rangers win (see his five assists and pk work) despite his lack of scoring. And isn't that all that really matters.
...now eventually the Rangers are going to need him to start scoring, so seeing him pass up a golden opportunity on the door step to McDonagh in the second period is a bit concerning. Rangers brought him on board to score not distribute. Having said that, I have no doubt if he continues playing the way the has up until this point he'll be back at the top of the goal scoring leaderboard by the end of the season.
I gotta say at this point I'd rather have Duby Arty Feds and Prust back than Nash. Redden has more Goals than Nash!!
Why worry? He's playing great, you know the goals are eventually gonna come and once they do...this team will be a lot of fun. Or at least their top line
Yep, and all those goals Gabby has have nothing to do with the space he's getting because Nash draws 3 people to him every rush, nahhh. I wouldn't be surprised if Nash ended up with 30+ by the end of the season.
I can't Believe Sather traded for this BUM! Buy him out ASAP! Or just wait for his first hat trick, coming soon for sure.
Hes very close. Hes always on the cusp but usually gets robbed. Hes playing amazing and seems to have adjusted well. The top lines seems to be knowing where their line mates are now, its just a matter of time.
not worried about it too much at all...he's been one of our best offensive threats like he should be, carries the puck and creates so many chances and creates chances for other, just cus he takes a shot at the goalie, it bounces of a few guys and we score, technically he doesnt get an assist for that but overll he created the play and thats what matters! So if he keeps doing that as well as start puttintg them in the net himself(which he will)...We are golden! In the meantime get better Cally! and LGR
Just like the team took around 5,6 games to get going, lets give Nash a few more games to get more comfortable. It's his first year on Broadway, it's going to take time before he settles in. It's a great sign he's not letting his offensive struggles trickle into other aspects of his game.
I love the way Nash is playing overall and he will be a solid contributor. Probably feels the need to dish the puck off more, just so he is viewed as a team player. I think a short, 60-second discussion by Torts can straighten this out quickly, as long as he doesn't take the same approach he did with Hagelin. Like I've written on this blog pretty consistently throughout, Torts is not my kind of guy. He is a hothead and doesn't know when to turn it off. While I appreciate what he did with the Rangers last year, I question if they can get to the promised land with Torts, especially when he is constantly chewing them out, burning players out, etc. Time will tell. I hope I am wrong.
Chalk me up as the least concerned person about this. The guys such a pure scorer it's not even funny. It's only a matter of time before the flood gates open for him.
@Nick E OMG, Put the crack pipe down and step away - it doesn't smoke itself!!! Seriously Nash is incredible and he IS contributing and putting points on the board. I don't care how many goals he gets as long as he gets us points and we win!
@Nick E -- I gotta believe Nick is joking ... on the other hand, there's a certain breed of New York fan .......
@Nick E those four players have 4 goals and 5 assists so far this year. Nash: 1 goal, 5 assists. Factor in Pyatt (3 Goals) and whoever else steps in (Ferriero? already 1 point) I think we'll be just fine. And if you're going to argue it's the intangibles we're missing with guys like Prust, Feds and Dubi, what about the intangibles Nash is contributing? Simply put, EVERY TIME he touches the puck we all think he might score. He is a dominant force out there. And the Rangers have not had that in a long time.
He's not quite been "as advertised" because he's not scoring, but he's doing just about everything else for this team. I want him to get going, but I appreciate everything else he's doing in the meantime.
@Nick E Yeah depth is a HUGE issue and it's not looking like its going away anytime soon!
@AG_Blue He has been terrific in other phases of the game. I am not going to judge his scoring output based on 6 games. He is just learning to play with Richards and Gaborik and the defensemen. Overall I am happy with what I see. Now, if Hagelin and Stepan could score a couple goals this team will be running on all cylinders.
