Kovalev Trying Out with Panthers

Written by Kevin DeLury on .

Seen a lot of rumors out there about the Rangers possibly bringing Alex Kovalev in for a tryout. This tweet should put those rumors to rest...

Kovalev had 16 goals in 74 games w/ Pens-Sens in 2010-11.

....listen, I love Kovalev just as much as the next guy. But the days of Sather bringing in run down, over the hill players is over. I couldn't be happier to see him in another team's camp. Been there done that.

...plus he doesn't seem like a Tortorella kind of guy.

Disagree- Kov playing 2nd or 3rd line and chipping in for 13-20 goals would be nice and as insurance if Kredier doesn't perform

That's the perfect pic for this story. It's screaming run down and over the hill.

@AG_Blue Ouch. Dude has pure talent that will neve run out. However, his time in pro hockey is over.

@_Jack  -- I don't mean any harm. I'm as big a Kovalev fan as the next guy, but I saw the pic and then read Kevin's words, "run down" and "over the hill," and they really appeared to fit.

always loved his talent but hated his defense. Hopefully he makes the Panthers team and I can watch him play when they lose to NYR..
