Erixon Cut By Columbus; Redden Clears Waivers

Written by Kevin DeLury on .

Update, 1:10 p.m.:

Portzline adds that Erixon was sent back to Columbus' AHL club.

...ok, not as big of a deal. I thought they completely cut him lose. I'm sure Columbus is still disappointed he couldn't make big club.

Original Post:

...wow! Wonder if the Rangers will look to bring him back. Obviously Erixon isn't as good as the so-called experts made him out to be. Especially when he's getting cut by Columbus. Yikes.

...and how about Columbus GM Howson trying explain to his fanbase that they just cut a key return from the Nash trade. Doubt he makes the end of the year.

In other transaction news, Wade Redden has cleared waivers and is now eligible to be bought out by the Rangers.

Worst part of the original Erixon acquisition is that Roman Horak is turning into an excellent player.

the BJ's actually do have a solid D core, but you'd think that Erixon would at least make the team.

So he was demoted. Guess. JD doesn't have a say in the matter. If they drop Dubi can we get him too lol

I'd pick him back up. The Rangers could use some young prospects at D considering we've got a lot of talented D that will be getting big offers from other teams in the coming years.

The kid hard-balled his way out of another city (Calgary?) because he didn't want to be there. If he's only gonna try hard for the organizations he likes, then I bet he wasn't even giving 50% effort in Columbus. If he wanted to be here, Slats should take him back just to rub it in Howson's face.

@johnnyb3910 He wasn't outright cut, he was sent to AHL. Rangers can't pick him up.

@KevinDeLury @johnnyb3910 even if he was available, he would be no better than third on the depth chart of Dmen other than the 8 with the big club, and with his questionable work-ethic/attitude and his inability to crack the CNN lineup, turn the page and remember to give Slats some credit.

That should be "CBJ lineup" ...he probably would be a top 4 Dman on the CNN hockey team, as long as Anderson Cooper moves up to forward...
