Late in Sunday night's CT Whale 4-1 loss to the Providence Bruins, goaltender Jason Missiaen was run over by Bruins player Florek Pro, which led to this response from Dylan McIlrath...
...now that's how you respond to one of your teammates getting hit. Hard to see it but McIlrath was absoluting pounding on Pro in the crease.
...having said that, I am by no means advocating McIlrath be brought up to the Rangers. If you guys think Bickel is having defensive issues, McIlrath will likely be worse. He needs to at least finish this season with the Whale before we even start talking about any promotions.
JT Miller scored the Whale's only goal of the game.
Man he can flip the switch can't he? He became a total beast!!! I never saw a guy piss his pants about being fought with either. He should be ashamed of himself haha
HAHA... If you watch you see McIlrath pulling the entire cluster of guys by himself towords the corner!
I love how McIlrath has his right arm cocked as Pro is holding on for dear life to the ref. If he showed any part of his face at that point McIlrath would have obliterated it. But to be completely fair, If anyone ran over Hank, I'm pretty sure you would see a response. Kreider got caught with a clean hit because his head was down, but there's no doubt that Boyle should have responded in some way, since he was the closest. And don't even get started on Bickel! He obviously can't skate and the only reason he's on the team is for toughness, yet he's on the ice when Kreider gets leveled and does nothing? He's good for at least a goal a game...against!!! If we're going to have a defenseman on the team who can't play defense but is willing to fight, then I would not mind it being McIlrath over Bickel. That being said, I don't think that's the right course to take, but Bickel is an absolute liability at this point!
I like McIlrath and can't wait until he gets to the Rangers. That said, I saw him play in Hershey just more than a week ago and thought he needed a lot of work. Time will tell, I guess.
