Tonight marks Brandon Prust's return to MSG for the first time since signing a 4-year, $10 million contract with the Canadiens this past offseason.
Prust was an all heart player, who thrived in John Tortorella's forechecking system and obviously became a fan favorite instantly.
67% of TheNYRBlog readers feel Prust doesn't deserve a tribute video before the game tonight. So how will I mark Prust's return? With a tribute video of course...
...i've seen a lot of Rangers fans blame management for not bringing Prust back this season. But I'm sorry, there's no way the Rangers should of outbid Montreal's already ridiculous offer for a fourth line player.
...i also don't fault Prust. Guys who play his style of game don't last in the NHL very long, so he might as well take the money while he can get it. No one should be criticized here. It just didn't work out.
...it would be nice to have had him back on the team though.
I disagree; #8 was crucial to last year's success; he was the premier forechecker & was the backbone of the team's toughness, that kind of player is priceless & rangers are weaker team without him in on the roster. They should have given him a deal.
I love your humor Kevin. You make me chuckle. Pruster had tons of heart. I loved his play and style.
Prust was my favorite Ranger while he was here for a lot of the very reasons many of you mentioned. He took care of a lot of the dirty work so guys like Gaborik and Richie could do their thing. Asham was supposed to bring some of that to the table, but I feel he should be viewed as the replacement for Rupp (except Asham is a better hockey player IMO). If Mashinter can come in and give us some of that "bite" we all know Torts loves, he is the kind of guy that can pick up where Prust left off...and then some.
Tie Domi shoulda got one..tough lil bugger..anyway we just got a lil Grittier Mashinter will grind, hit, bang, and fight if needed. Also has good hands with puck. F Prust i hope Masher gets in his face and Blast him throuh the boards!!
*sniffle* I miss Pruster. No, we shouldn't have out-bid Montreal at that price, but I still miss that guy. And his bromance with Boyler.
i have noticed how boring the rangers are playing they got no grit ,something is lacking like they are afraid of making mistakes or they will get benched ,no excitement or is it me
Can't believe we are even discussing a video tribute - loved him, but come on - let's save the video montage for guys who helped us win a cup, were all time greats...not a guy who was a great ranger for 2 years and played with emotion - that's called doing your job. You don't get a video for just doing your job.
What's wrong with you people. Guy was heart and soul of this team during his tenure. Took a lot of punches in the face protecting our beloved Rangers, and he doesn't "deserve" a 49 second youtube video...?
Nice one. He was such an easy guy to root for, same mentality as a Callahan type and would do anything to help the team win. I still think his fight in Ottawa against Chris Neal was a big reason the Rangers won that series. Hoping he has a nice, long, successful career.
How come there was no Fedotenko tribute video? Is there a Hugh Jessiman or Bobby Sanguinetti video in the hopper for those somedays when they might return...LOL!!
He played here 2 years and was a grinder, loved him while he was here but video tribute is overboard
@Scott_from_Jersey He chose to leave for money. So no he deserves squat. He is dead to me and should be to all Rangers fans. Long live Aaron Asham!
@Scott_from_Jersey I voted no for a video on the MSG big screen but did not think I was voting on a youtube video. He was one of my favorites last year and deserves a big round of applause from the crowd when he hits the ice for the first time but that is enough.
@gravey94 @Scott_from_Jersey did you boo Eddie Giacomin when he returned? or Leetch or Messier.. ok ok Prust is not even in the same conversation with these legends but he played with heart and that's enough for me to cheer his return. They win I shut my hole next game - but you know the garden faithful will be giving him a cheer tonight ( not the bronx variety)
