Video: Torts, Rangers Talk Getting Better for Senators
Written by Kevin DeLury on .
...i think Torts is 100% correct saying the team is a step behind. I'm not sure if it's they're out of shape or what but other teams seem to have a jump to their game that the Rangers just don't have yet. Hopefully Torts turning up the volumn at practice helps get the Rangers were they need to be.
Here's the players thoughts...
...very interesting to here Hagelin comment about MSG being dead for the Canadiens game. Guess Rangers players aren't the only ones a step behind. We all need to step up our games.

First of all that night ur talking about was kids night.. They announced that before the game and talke about it so there ya go... And the mic is definitely not working right at the gardenfor tv cus u watch any game on mhl center ice its loud, then rangers game seems real quiet... I hate that lately i dot think the broadcats thing for souund is working or they wan it that way or what... But overall the crowd hasnt been all there either... Then again nothing to cheer about gor a good amount of time lately...
@TheNYRBlog place is quiet because real fans are priced out, and this offseason was a reminder the owners and players don't care about them
I texted my friend who was at the game. It was dead from puck drop. Ron it wasnt loud at all. I have season tix and you know when the crowd is on. ALL game except for Rangers goal and last flurry on PP it was a lil louder. The crowd sucked that night, you could hear nothing, thought it was my T.V. until my friend texted that it was a dead SUIT crowd. Also How the hell where you putting up Henrik chants if he didn't have a great save all game? 17 saves whoa lot of work..
I agree totally about the ticket prices. I was looking to purchase season tix this season , but all they had available were 142 dollar seats. R u kidding...I work at the post office. I'm looking for 53 dollar seats at the most. Greedy bastards
@TheNYRBlog Agree with Hags. Watched on TV. For starters it was a dreadfully boring game. But part is a result of absurd tix prices #suits
It was hard to get excited at any point during the Habs game. The product on the ice was boring as hell and tough to sit through. Energy is a cycle...the team needs to give the crowd at least something to buzz about and as the buzz grows, the team feeds off it, which gets the crowd more excited, etc. There was just nothing there on Tuesday.
@RyanMC is absolutely right about the suits. From my seats at the tippy top of 213, my lady & I laugh every game at the sea of "other" blue shirts that sit in the first section behind the glass across the ice from us. The button down business shirts that disappear for the first 5 minutes of every period as they hang out in their underground suites. Just awful.
Tuesday was also surprisingly full of the obnoxious drunk "Ranger fans" that make coming to games increasingly more frustrating. We had a group behind us that distracted me for the entire game - the type of frat-boy dbags that think drunk, loud & obnoxious = funny. With the Garden so quiet I just had those guys in my ears the whole game which ruined any enjoyment I could have gotten out of the game.
@Mikeytri It's ridiculous. I'm finishing up college so i'm not loaded to begin with. The last few years I've gone home for anywhere between 5 and 15 games per season. I went to the home opener for $110 and sadly I don't think I'll be going to too many more games with the average ticket price being in the $300 range like it was tuesday night. I'll watch the games at home or at the bar with my friends where it will be cheaper and a more enjoyable environment.
you need to yell fire every so often ,maybe that will bring the crowd to its feet or have someone start the wave ,get the mascot get off his ass and start making noise lol
Ron... I have said this from the beginning. There seems to be no energy at the garden. I noticed and commented to Kevin about it, and it seems to be the consensus that MSG is not what it used to be. I don't know if it is the microphone system or what. Sometimes you can hear it; however, most times it is just dead. It used to be a building where John Amorante didn't have to make the crowd get into the National Anthem. Half way through the Garden would go nuts, and now you can hear nothing. I used to sit in the blue seats. I know the energy it can have! I just wish you could hear it more.
Hagelin is absolutely right. But the crowd did come alive a bit in the 3rd when it was clear unless the Rangers got a boost they were content to lay down and lose. The building has become fickle for sure. But the Rangers are not exactly giving the fans a reason to stand and cheer.
@bioinsegnante When a good amount of the crowd is suits and business men you can't expect much energy. This is a completely different topic but with ticket prices being what they are its tough for the average fan to get in. A dad looking to bring his wife and kids to a game is looking at a minimum $500 night between tickets parking food and a stop in the Rangers store. A couple college kids or 20 somethings aren't going to be going to as many games at $100 a pop. MSG has always been a blue collar arena but with ticket prices being what they are it just isn't going to be as loud as it used to be.
"pace and mindset" ... they were such a letdown vs. the habs that i couldn't even comment on the blog, and i'm usually here everyday. Here's hoping they regain their pace and mindset, their team character, and show up tonight.
THEY will make the playoffs if they change the system ,get the defense more involved with the play ,dont shoot the puck in all the time , ca rely the puck over the line ,they shoot the puck in and the goaltender clears it to their defense all the time
I was at the canadiens game and MSG WAS LOUDDD. we had lets go rangers chants goin every play stoppage, henry chants, you name it.
@TheNYRBlog real fans can't afford to go to alot of these games anymore kev, that's the problem, blame Dolan n @NYRangers not that they care
@TheNYRBlog I really feel like MSG is so quiet because the hardcore fans are being shut out of the games with these crazy ticket prices.
@ZOMGitsDeja @TheNYRBlog I agree with that, it's free to watch at home. And when they lose, I don't have to feel miserable on train. #NYR
@jambodelta99 @ZOMGitsDeja Worst feeling ever is coming down from being drunk on the LIRR after a Rangers loss. Miserable.
@TheNYRBlog @ZOMGitsDeja yep, pretty much agree. And then catching a long local train home and finding a parking ticket on your car. #NYR
@TheNYRBlog MSG has priced out the actual fans, ive gone to 2 games,no energy...The only way to watch a game there is from the blue seats
