Video: Torts, Players Talk 5-1 Win Over Bolts

Written by Kevin DeLury on .

...despite the 5-1 score you can tell that Torts knows the Rangers were lucky to somehow get out of that first period without giving up at least three goals on all those odd man rushes. If not for Lundqvist and the Lightning's inability to finish that game might be completely different.

Here's the players' thoughts...

...he obviously isn't having the offensive start he wanted, but how happy must Nash be playing in front of raucus, soldout home crowds?

Why are they lucky? That is why Lundqvist is the reigning Vezina Trophy winner.

I wouldn't mind seeing them mix a little more 'run and gun' into their game. It'll certainly help with the bruises they sustain from laying down and blocking all of those shots with their bodies!

@Beckfan5 They were luck because the Lightning had like seven odd man rushes in the first period with players such as Stamkos, St. Louis and Lecavalier. While Hank had to stand on his head they also missed a few layups. Rangers aren't built to play that way.

@KevinDeLury @Beckfan5 I agree that they don't want to run and gun, but it has to be a big confidence boost to see that they can actually score if they shoot! For once I can't blame all the odd man rushes and breakaways on DelZaster and yes the king had to stand on his head but the game was an overall positive!
