Bell Centre Is Rangers House of Horrors

Written by Kevin DeLury on .

To say the Rangers don't play well in Montreal is an understatement of epic proportions. Not sure what happens when our beloved Blueshirts visit the Bleu, Blanc et Rouge but what I do know is it's usually ugly as Andrew Gross at the Bergen Record points out that the Rangers have not won at the Bell Centre since March 17, 2009, going 0-5-1 in that stretch...

"And that’s part of a longer 1-6-2 slump at Montreal that includes a 5-4 overtime loss on Oct. 24, 2009 in which the Rangers twice surrendered two-goal leads, and a 6-5 overtime loss on Feb. 18, 2008 in which they blew a five-goal lead."

Last season the Rangers lost both games in Montreal by a combined score of 8-1.

...with the Rangers sputtering, Montreal is probably the last place they want to be playing tonight, but who knows. Sometimes when everything seems to be stacked against a team they rise to the occasion and we can only hope that ends up being the case for the Rangers tonight.

...the person who personifies the Rangers struggles in Montreal is Lundqvist whose goals against average is upwards of 4.50 at the Bell Centre, while losing his last five starts there.

@TheNYRBlog 1979, game one, Rangers had no chance against the mighty Canadiens, just saying

@TheNYRBlog don't worry-I just beat the Habs 4-0 in NHL 13. Clearly that's an accurate indicator of tonight's outcome.
