Steve Eminger Recalled from Connecticut, Del Zotto Injury Serious?
Written by James Wrabel on .
As Kevin wrote earlier this morning, New York Rangers defenseman Michael Del Zotto left last night's game with an apparent injury and was seen limping after the game.
While no update has been given by the team regarding Del Zotto's status, the team has made a transaction today:
#NYR have recalled Steve Eminger from the @ctwhale likely due to Del Zotto injury
— Pat Leonard (@NYDNRangers) February 22, 2013
Keep in mind Eminger was sent down to the AHL back on February 13 for a two-week conditioning stint and was due to return soon.
- Safe to assume it's an undisclosed injury?
- The team can ill afford to be without one of their top-four defenseman for any length of time. Eminger isn't the greatest option, but will be serviceable if he's pressed into action.

I think now that Del Z is out, the points should be played by any combo of our top 4 d-men. I REALLY want to see what Mac Truck can do on the powerplay, as well as Staal. They have more confidence with the puck to shoot first and ask questions later.
I've wanted to see DZ sit for a while but only because of his shitty play. Never want to see anyone down due to injury and I hope it's nothing serious. Hoping the rest of the Rangers D can step it up.
Hopefully the Del Z injury isn't too serious. Eminger, while he plays very very ugly, does a decent job. Although I'm wondering if at some point we bring up a defenseman from the Whale, even just as a possible 6th guy (you know me, I'm a big Gilroy supporter, but hey, it's worth thinking about). I'm looking at some of our guys points wise and three of our d-men are doing rather solid. Pyett (24) has 25 points with a +10, Vernace (26) 24 points with a +5, and Parlett (23) with 23 points and a +5.
Maybe this will cheer everyone up. Ricky DP placed on waivers, heading to Bridgeport. LOL good call, S.I....

@TheNYRBlog did I read &/or wasn't there interest from Colorado for DelZotto in a trade?
God help Del Zotto if he misses the game tomorrow and the Rangers not only win but score a power play goal.
@TheNYRBlog what happened to @MichaelDelZotto @MSGNetworks didn't really mention anything. #NYR
@cak31380 Left game in 3rd period after taking a hit and never returned. Looked like a lower body injury.
I think DZ is the fifth dman right now, but this would be a horrible loss for the team. Don't like him on the power play, but he definitely brings some offense to our dcorps. Also, don't want to see eminger/Bickel every night. The news just keeps getting worse and worse...
And I hate that they refuse to disclose the injuries. I get it, but it is extremely frustrating.
