Update, 5:18 p.m.:
Rangers announce Rick Nash out tonight. Chris Kreider in for him.

No word on why Nash is out.
...does this mean I have to apologize for criticizing Rangers recent handling of Kreider.

why Why WHY is Del Zotto on the PP? For the love of god there's no one near him and he manages to somehow put the puck out of the zone all by himself. I'm done with that guy
Pretty boring game overall, definitely had chances to force OT but guess nobody wanted to step up tonight. Gotta say, MDZ for O'reilly is sounding really good right about now.
Some questions . . .
-Will Boyle ever score again?
-Does Del Zotto sense all the negative thoughts emanating from the NYR Blog? Or was he just thinking about cannolis when lost the puck on the last PP?
-Is MSG the only arena with large empty spaces with no seats behind the glass?
-Why I am fixated on the idea of the Rangers shoving an insipid, boring game-plan back in the Canadiens' faces on Saturday?
Kreider looked like a lost puppy out there who had no idea where to go or what to do. He had one nice shot. That was it. If he wants to stick around he needs to do more, especially if he's pretty much taking Nash's spot.
Hey Josh,
Are you now in agreement with me about Kreider? ;)
When you focus on him, its easy to see. Great speed and wrist shot...but without the puck, he is clueless...or like you said.."a lost puppy out there". He lacks hockey instincts. He needs to go down.
@Mcphee21 One game won't make me agree about Kreider having no hockey instincts. I do believe Kreider should go down, I made that clear over the past few days on here. He has a lot of stuff to work on. He's not physical enough to be in this league. Not every player makes a transition from the college game to the pro game so smoothly. I believe his offensive instincts are solid. He needs to groom his defensive game and his board play, which is something that will come. Hell, we have players who are vets who have no idea what to do around the boards.
@JoshKaye Yea not a great game, but I dont think 8 of the Rangers forwards knew what they were doing. Brian Boyle could have tied the game and missed a wide open net. Mashinter only got 5 minutes. Richards is awful. Gaborik looked lost on the first line and played with no effort. Miller did nothing all night. The offense looked inept without Nash
Hahahaha. I am still laughing from that powerplay at the end of the game. If Del Zotto is ever on the PP again they should fire Sullivan and Torts. He is terrible. And Richards is not much better.
Played very well defensively, but one breakdown cost us the game.
And what a shocker Brian Boyle misses a wide open net to tie the game.
The team looked lost offensively without Nash. The only line that did anything was the Stepan, Hagelin, Gaborik line otherwise I almost knew we werent going to do anything offensively.
Terrible loss to a tired team that had to play the night before, no excuse for this one Torts. Hopefully Nash is back sooner then later because apparently we dont play offense without him
Also, I think we should bench Gaborik and Richards for a game. They both put no effort into the game. It is as if they know they are getting paid so why try and end up getting hurt. Someone needs to get those guys going again because it is an embarrassment. What a terrible game to watch, when does Nash come back?
HOW THE FUCK IS DEL ZOTTO ON THE ICE AHEAD OF McD WHO IS A FAR SUPERIOR PLAYER, BETTER SKATER BETTER STICK HANDLER BETTER HOCKEY SENSE. ENOUGH WITH DEL ZOTTO. HE'S NOT A PP QB. SHIT, HE'S A BARELY SERVICABLE DMAN WHO DOES NOT WIN 1:1 BATTLES. EVER. WHY IS HE GETTING THE ICE TIME?
looked like they had no good fortune with the shots on net tonight. i caught 18 minutes of the last period and saw 3 or 4 shots that would have scored with any luck.
@GLENsatherVSglennDANZIG Thats because it was one shot and cleared, no net presence. Really poor performance tonight, no hustle really against a team that had to play the night before and we were home at the Garden.
A few players that were noticeable after that period:
Hagelin- still skating well and opening up the ice
Richards- Thought he made some nice plays
Kreider- 2 of our 5 shots, and had a very nice slap shot that almost beat price
Del Zotto- Looked horrid on the Power play he should not be on it anymore
Mller and Mashinter havent done anything of note so far.
and looks like Mashinter is headed to 5 minutes of play time, Torts clearly does not trust him yet, and has no idea what he is about. Hopefully that time comes soon because he can give us some much needed size and physicality
Don't we all know Nash is talking Howson off the ledge tonight? Err so I hope that's all that is wrong.
I heard on Wfan they think it is a groin vs a concussion. If it is a concussion Torts and his entire staff should be fired.
@maxrokz if it is a groin, whats in the Rangers water? Two groin injuries already, to their two best skaters.
(But really, these lines are looking pretty solid. I love Nash to death, but I do worry about our team becoming one that depends on him carrying the load)
Who steps up tonight? I would say Kreider has a big game or he goes down when Nash is back, and.... Richards peeks his head out from irrelevancy tonight. Still playing a great team I dont know if the Rangers have enought to beat the Habs without Nash.
In the most predictable news of the day Torts gave explanation for Nash injury.
@greggray24 @KevinDeLury Torts on Nash "He's out". Torts on what to expect from Mashinter "No idea"
I'm not going to be home for this one unfortunately. LET'S RIP'EM A NEW ONE!?
@AnnoyingJoe honestly just roll 12 players haha, the only good line is being broken up tonight with Nash out.
If Nash does have a concussion, it could be the downfall of this team. I would go as far to say that he has been the only one capable of producing. I know everyone says Hagelin and Stepan recently. But look at the numbers when Gaborik and Richards played with him they had a ton of points, and now the same is happening with Nash. Without him we would need someone to fill his shoes and I do not think anyone on this team, or many in the NHL can handle those shoes....
This isn't good. Please no concussion, and if it is I want Lucic's head on a plate!
