i usually have nothing bad to say about our announcers bc they are way better than most out there IMO (Pit,Bos etc.), but sam and joe, especially sam, were all over clarksons dick tonight and it was starting to bug me, especially late....anytime he touched the puck, they started raving about him. Am i the only one to notice that?
I wasn't home I missed the whole game. I'm guessing I should count myself lucky.
@GLENsatherVSglennDANZIG the only thing worse than their play was the comments section tonight. Ugh.
@AnnoyingJoe @GLENsatherVSglennDANZIG do you think they really played that bad? i think they played a way better game than people are saying...brodeur stood on his head with some of the saves he made...obviously the special teams have to be better...a PPG in the first when it was 1-0 would have changed the game but overall i dont think it was that bad of a game...there was good time in the devils end..just need to bury the chances
When Torts looks at Clarkson, do you think he realizes the only difference between Clarkson and Avery is how each player was handled by their coach? Theyre both douchebags, but can play. Clarkson doesn't have any more skill or talent than Avery, he just has a coach who knows how to utilize him and puts him in situations to succeed, but keeps him in check. Torts put his ego ahead of the team and his players. I hate bringing up Avery but its all I think about when I see Clarkson. I'm not saying bring him back, just comparing the two.
@johnnyb3910 Clarkson was unable to play when Avery was on the ice. All Clarkson could do was chase Avert around and take stupid penalties. Awesome observation, but, in fairness to Torts, the refs where really singling out Avery...
@AnnoyingJoe agreed that he was getting singled out, but if Clarkson and Cooke can play on the first lines of top teams, then there's a way to break the cycle. Avery was a black eye off the ice, but Cooke has ended people's careers. A little support from his coach toward the refs may have gone a long way, but Torts would never do that. That's enough Avery talk, enough to be concerned about with the guys who are still playing here...
2011-2012 rangers = Over Achievers
2012-2013 rangers= Under Achievers
to the point that every other game its not even fun to watch anymore
@_Jack @ATCRyan I love how the shuffled lines start to show promise, but as soon as its PP time, it's back to the same units. Granted Miller saw 1st unit time at the end, but this is just vintage torts. Amazing what our record would be if we were at 15%. We're in dead last at 8.6%...
Gotta think Sullivan might be on the hot seat soon. PP has been atrocious for far too long now
@slapshot13j @ATCRyan @_Jack can Torts start declining the PP all that happens is DelZaster gives up short handed opportunities and its not like we shoot at an open net it's either wide or in the goalies chest?!?
@slapshot13j Unfortunately its true. Hank was weak from the get go. And for how long can we overlook the fact that his puck handling skills are worst in the league and lead to a ton of turnovers? Why isn't that talked about and/or corrected?
@Scott_from_Jersey because no one can speak against the king or people think your crazy. Truth is he needs a break and needs to reassess some stuff and figure some stuff out.
Awful lot of panicking going on this early in the season... I know it's almost 1/4 through, but these 10 games are the equivalent of training camp + first 15-20 games of a regular season. Still need just a little time to gel.
Everybody's been screaming for callups for a spark? - got it, and I think Miller looks really good. And I think Powe for Rupp works too.
@DuPont_Snotty Yes but do not forget we now have the 'bonus' point for getting to OT. That makes it much more difficult to make up ground after a slow start, especially in a short season. I agree though if we can at least play .500 hockey, then we have a huge shot to get in and go far once we figure things out. Once the newbies figure out Tort's system. I for one like Torts and would be upset if a knee jerk reaction ousts him.

@AnnoyingJoe @JustinRP37 Not a troll at all. I spent plenty of money watching him play as a grad student in Cbus. Read a lot of blogs on the Jackets while I was out there. Mind you I have been a Rangers fan ever since the Whalers left.
@AnnoyingJoe @JustinRP37 Yes he has 30+ goal 7 times in his career he also has a -65 +/- rating! I honestly do think this is a playoff team, once they develop the depth and consistency. It takes time and unfortunately time is not on our side this year as we went through a ridiculous lockout.
@JustinRP37 that's worse. A troll would At least have an excuse for stupid comments. 30+ goals 7 times. Country club!
@JustinRP37 hes been great he just cannot score anymore. That is honestly the only thing that is missing from his game
I guess I should have clarified that we gave up too much depth for my taste to bring him in. I just really thought last year's team worked really well and did not need a major change. But in understand it has to happen from time to time.
Things that came out of this game:
Del Zotto is still Del Zotto.
The Rangers Power Play is still terrible
Rick Nash lost his goal scoring touch when he came over from Columbus
I liked last years team that overachieved a lot more than this years team that underachieves
It is painful to watch this team
That second line having a good game was a fluke
Chris Kreider and JT miller were the only ones with any jump tonight
Hank gets no help from this team
Dan Girardi must have broken a bone to be out tonight
Unless Kovalev scores late and Mess puts up a natural hatty, this isn't looking goog
wish there was a stat for how many wide open nets you have missed... Rangers would have the most in the league by far
Del Zotto's playing like he thinks he's back in last Year's Eastern Conference Finals.
