Nash Put on IR Retroactively to Make Room for Thomas
Written by Kevin DeLury on .
Late last night, TheNYRBlog's Adam Herman reported that the Rangers have recalled Christian Thomas from the CT Whale.
To make room for Thomas, Andrew Gross at the Bergen Record notes that the Rangers have placed Rick Nash on IR retroactively.
He would be eligible to come off the IR tomorrow.
...this transaction is not a confirmation of anything related to Nash's injury. Just paperwork Rangers had to get done to officially put Thomas on the roster.

So I don't mean to bring any more cause for concern, but apparently Marc Staal's status for the game is up in the air. He wasn't out on the ice for the morning skate, apparently with the flu. He hasn't been ruled out. But this game could get ugly.
This makes the Thomas move more interesting now, since if we don't have both MDZ and Staal for tonights game, Bickel would be taken from the winger spot and played as a defenseman, which would mean both he and Eminger would be starting.
I guess it could be a good sign that they did it retroactively. If they had just put him on IR it would have implied they expected him to miss a few more games? But is it an indication of something if Nash doesn't come off tomorrow? And I'm assuming Thomas has the same 5-game call-up contract scenario that Miller was?
“@TheNYRBlog: Nash being placed on IR is no big deal, just done to make room for Thomas on the roster. Can come off tomorrowl”
@TheNYRBlog I wake up to hearing Nash on IR but then you are so rational and calmed me down thanks!!
Any predictions on the lines tonight? Here's what I would like to see Gaborik Stephan hagelin Kreider Richards miller Callahan Pratt Thomas Mashinter Boyle Halpern
@Jbianco Gaborik Stepan Hagelin
Thomas Richards Callahan
Kreider Miller Pyatt
Mashinter Boyle Halpern
@KevinDeLury @AnnoyingJoe @chrisD @Jbianco
again, it all comes down to ice-time with torts. want to see Halpern and Pyatt get better than 3rd or 4th line time, or at least let them get some of Richards' or Gabs' time.
@AnnoyingJoe @chrisD @Jbianco A lot of us have said it but Kreider-Richards-Miller has to be reunited.
@KevinDeLury I would like it but torts wouldn't do it. Also I like Richards on that line in hope they give him a spark
@TheNYRBlog I like the way you tweet. U just say it. Some ppl r condescending telling ppl how to react as if they r so above all.
@Jen9400 Not a fan of those people. We're fans and can react any way we want to whatever we want.
@TheNYRBlog exactly. I mean the Nash injury pissed me off. We have the right to know IDC what anyone says. They're all drinking the kool aid
