Brandon Mashinter picked up a power play assist in the CT Whale's 4-1 victory over the St. John's IceCaps last night.
Mashinter now has 3g, 5a in 10 games since joining the Whale.
...a power play assist, the Rangers could use a few more of those. Although, if the Rangers game continues to round into shape, we're likely not to see Mashinter any time soon.
Also in the game, Dylan McIlrath did this (00:46 mark)...
...while I always love me some McIlrath beatdowns, you have to wonder what kind of long term affects these fights are going to have on him. Seems like he's fighting every night. Assuming every opponents' tough guy wants to test the young kid, but it might be in the Rangers best interest to have Gernander talk to him about backing off a bit and concentrating on becoming a better defenseman. Just a thought.
@cb1 No idea.
I agree about McIlrath picking his spots. However, that was a pretty savage hit that he responded to so I think he had to go there. But I would rather see assists and goals than 5 mins in the box.
