Mashinter Watch: Not a Good Return to Whale

Written by Kevin DeLury on .

After seeing no NHL game action in the less than 24 hours he was recalled by the Rangers, Brandon Mashinter returned to the Whale Tuesday night with a thud. Mashinter was held scoreless including being stopped on a shootout attempt during the Whale's 4-3 shootout loss to Albany.

Mashinter was also a -2 and only registered one shot on goal.

He now has 3g, 4a and is a -2 in nine games since joining the Whale.

...not making excuses for the guy, but I can't imagine that was an easy 24-hours between all the travel as well as the disappointment of being recalled and not even getting to stay for the game.

...i'm expecting a much better performance from Mashinter Friday night.

It's gotta be heartbreaking to get called up and sent right back. I saw his stat line and that's the first thing that came to mind. Probably wasn't in the best head space. They should have scratched him in CT just to get his stuff together.

Hope they keep Kreider and Miller in the lineup and start Biron again. Time to shake things up a little. Marty played really well against Tampa. Hank has been so so. Maybe to get his compete level up he needs to watch from the bench at MSG
