Mashinter Watch: Another Assist; While McIlrath Fights

Written by Kevin DeLury on .

Brandon Mashinter picked up a power play assist on a Logan Pyett first period goal during the CT Whale's 2-1 overtime win over Norfolk last night.

Mashinter now has 10 points (4g, 6a) in 13 games this season.

...kid is not only producing points, he's producing points on the power play. Seriously, if the Rangers are so concerned that Kreider isn't ready, why not give Mashinter a chance and just let Kreider figure it out with the Whale?

Also during the game, Dylan McIlrath did what he does best (2:16 mark)...

...great job by McIlrath using his left hand to land punches while Kurtz tied up the big right.

Because Tortorella probably doesn't know who he is. So therefore he doesn't trust him.

I know were playing better and 2nd in the league in hits but does anyone else notice we need a heavyweight? Looks like a cupcake lineup. Halpern to me is a waste of a spot . Bring Mashinter up.

Obviously they've had a look at Mashinter. I gotta believe he gets a call up at some point.

Meanwhile, McIlrath fights all the time. He's good at it. I hope other aspects of his game are improving, but, even as a winning fighter, he takes a lot of blows to the head, and that makes it harder to be an A student.
