Kreider Could Return Tomorrow Night in New Jersey
Written by Kevin DeLury on .
Brett Cyrgalis at the New York Post reports that there's a chance Chris Kreider (ankle/bone chip) could be ready to return for tomorrow night's game in New Jersey.
Cyrgalis speculates that Kreider would be inserted onto the third line.
...after the performance of the Hagelin-Stepan-Pyatt line in the Tampa game there's no way Torts is breaking them up. And to be honest, I thought the third line was real solid also, but I can't imagine Torts is going to drop Kreider to the 4th line. Maybe a line of Boyle-Halpern-Kreider? Leaving Ferriero-Asham-Rupp as the fourth line.
...give me your thoughts on possible lines for tomorrow's game in the comments section.

Kreider will be playing with JT Miller he was just sent up to play with the big boys
No way kreider comes back to 3rd or 4th line minutes. This kid gotta be given a chance to show off his capabilities. G-N-R Hags-Step-Kreider, Boyle-Pyatt-halpern , ferriero-Rupp-Ashaam....they need to be able to counter the devils with speed from top 6 forwards
Since he seems to be struggling with the defensive side of things, I'd put him him some guys that are defensively responsible but still have speed. My guess would be Kreider-Boyle-Ferriero. Maybe sprinkle a few shifts with Nash and Richards, just to see what it looks like ;-)
Halpern has impressed me in the last 2 games I'd like to see him get 3rd line minutes. Kevin, we need a non game day post about what we can get for Boyle. I think he forgot everything he learned from those skating lessons last off season. He looks rough.
@GLENsatherVSglennDANZIG -- i saw some nice sequences (figure skating term ; ) from boyler the other night
@AG_Blue @GLENsatherVSglennDANZIG Agreed, I like what I saw from Boyle in Tampa. Hope he can be more consistent with that effort.
@GLENsatherVSglennDANZIG I agree that he hasn't been producing. But I think he is a huge asset for the Rangers. If you watch the games you can see that when he has the puck in the offensive zone below the goal line it is almost impossible to take the puck from him because of his ridiculous reach and size. This is a huge bonus for the third line because it helps keep the puck in the offensive zone when they get it there. Plus he always plays better in bigger games. There is no way the Rangers can afford to trade Brian Boyle in my opinion especially after just losing prust
@slapshot13j other than them being buddies I don't see any similarities in Prust and Boyle.
@GLENsatherVSglennDANZIG they both give up the puck in the offensive zone - no passing skill and apparently are afraid to shoot. Both good on PK.
Think he starts with Boyle, Halpern. Where Kreider moves after that will be based on how well he's playing and how the other lines are performing too.
If he is a go for tomorrow you have to put him in the line up. Bickel, to me is out of his league as a forward. Slowly get Kreider up to game speed by giving him 8-10 minutes.
It's a big if for the rangers with their inconsistent scoring, but what do the rangers do with cally if the second line continues to produce? Insert him onto the 3rd line and move Halpren down to the 4th? I guess it's a good problem to have, but the captain on the third line?
@slapshot13j you could always make Pyatt-Stepan-Hagelin the 3rd line and break up the top line if they get stagnant, maybe also swap Ferriero for JT Miller if you're looking for another center without the last name Boyle
Nash-Richards-Callahan
Kreider-Miller- Gaborik
Pyatt-Stepan-Hagelin
Halpern-Boyle-Asham
I actually like these better
Nash-Richards-Gaborik
Kreider-Miller-Callahan
Pyatt-Stepan-Hagelin
Halpern-Boyle-Asham
@slapshot13j Better than Drury not being able to play above the 4th line.
@Iron Mike Boyle. Idk...saw a video of a baby giraffe taking its first steps, reminded me of Boyle.
I'd go Kreider-Boyle-Ferriero (All Boston College guys), then Rupp, Halpern, Asham
@BrendyJohnson I was thinking Kreider-Boyle-Ferriero also but Halpern hasn't looked good with Rupp and Asham. I guess only getting 4 minutes a night will do that.
