Are the Sharks Interested in Making a Trade With Rangers?

Written by Kevin DeLury on .

Andrew Gross at the Bergen Record notes that Sharks scout John Ferguson Jr. attended his second straight Rangers’ game last night in Tampa.

The Sharks (7-0-1) are currently in second place in the Western Conference with 15 points.

Patrick Marleau has nine goals in those eight games, while Joe Thornton has 11 assists.

...no idea why a team which hasn't lost a game in regulation would be interested in making a trade with the Rangers right now. Maybe the infamous Gaborik for Boyle trade rumor is actually happening? LOL! Or maybe Rangers want to revisit Scott Gomez. Ok, I'll stop.

...in all seriousness, despite last night's big win vs. Tampa, the Rangers are still in need of depth. Sather has said he's still looking after Arnott signing fell apart, so maybe something is brewing here.

Why would the Sharks make any changes right now? Unless someone in their locker room is nursing a minor injury they fear will become bigger.  If I were them, I wouldn't mess with success just yet.  I'd wait until March to see how things are going.

if they get rid of Gaborik... itd be the dumbest move hes made as a gm along side of signing drury and gomez... Gaborik is way to valuable.. honestly once call gets back we have depth... its called use our home grown talent like everyone else does... ready or not those kids can play and id be more than fine with kreider or jt miller making hos debut and playing every night id need be... with nash, gaborik, and richards on one team no team should be worried they should just play harder!

That Boyle for Gaborik trade was something Buccigross was pushing last season. No truth to it.

Boyle for Gáborík makes no sense the way Gáborík is playing with Nash right now

Any clue to what they could be looking for?

@MichaelArdi Jumbo Joe and Nash have a history, and the Sharks probably would like to get out from under a $7 million cap hit next year, when the cap goes down...probably start with Stepan and Del Zotto, maybe more considering how hot Thornton started.

@smoothyv @MichaelArdi I don't see this trade happening at all. This would make me really upset. I want to see the Rangers making friends with the Oilers.

@chrisD Hell, I'd trade those two for a bag of pucks right now.

@KevinDeLury Ha! (BTW Anisimov 2 goals and Dubinsky with an Assist last night over Detroit 4-2)

@gravey94  @chrisD Also Dubinsky has zero goals and is a -4 and Erixon couldn't make the Blue Jackets out of camp.

@chrisD  @KevinDeLury Welcome to Anisimov's week long hot streak.  When it ends you will not hear from him until September.
