Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse...a terrible team effort against the Islanders at home...sorry gang, sometimes you have to hit absolute rock bottom before recovery begins...we've hit it. Why are we playing Lundqvist 8 games in a row? Wow man...I thought Christmas was right around the corner...nope it must be Easter...because Hank just laid the biggest egg on Broadway. I can't even classify this as a terrible loss to the lowly Islanders because we are the lowly Rangers. I'd rather watch Glee...and I hate Glee.
Tonight we watched two truly awful teams play, and unfortunately, the Rangers were the more awful one. Lundqvist stinks, plain and simple. High glove side...everybody's scoring on this Queen.
It all points to Hank, sorry. I know we would be nothing in the past without him but come on in sports its what have you done for me lately. Nash is simply not getting it done as a superstar in this league.
Did Talbot do something wrong? Don't get me wrong, I love Hank and for years Ranger fans have wondered what the team would look like without him. Now we see. I still think he will get it together, but Talbot has played well in every game so far. He has at least earned a couple starts in the last handful of games.
Can't wait for the day sports change, and players are paid based on their play. Guys like Brad Richards, Eli Manning... etc. don't deserve the money they make for their play
Welp, there's some gin in the freezer and some tonic water in the cupboard, let's see what we can get going here...
Words mean nothing, only actions. And we aren't doing anything but talking about how much of a bummer it is to be a Ranger right now. This team needs to pull itself up by its boot straps and get back to work. Its pathetic, big bunch of babies. I feel bad that I was okay with torts leaving. I was excited for a new style of hockey. Its clear now that Torts is an amazing coach and made it work with what he had. Hands off approach won't work for players who need to still be spoon fed.
I posted this earlier on the Rick Nash thread, but still feel it is appropriate. My problem with everyone yelling about the Richards contract, which is horrible too, is Nash's contract is even worse. His cap hit is $7,800,000 which stands for 13.13% of the Rangers available cap! Brad Richards cap hit is $6,666,667 which stands for 10.37% of the available cap. Both contracts are terrible. People with the cap hit of Nash are Zach Parise, Eric Staal, Ryan Getzlaf, Dany Heatly, Marian Gaborik, and Joe Thorton. So I ask you which players would you rather have for the amount of money that we are spending? We has 23.5% of our available cap space taken up by Richards and Nash! Think about that.
Seems like more and more that this team has zero chemistry and don't play for one another. You look at a team like Boston and it seems like everyone has each others backs and they're all friends. It's much more fun to play when you like the people you're playing with. This team is broken beyond repair. Too much money, and not enough passion.
I guess I made the right call going to see a movie. Who were the non-players in tonight's game? I am so glad that I will be leaving for vacation soon. I think the real Rangers have been on vacation all year. So my prediction that AV get fired by Christmas is still able to occur?
The islanders hadn't won a game in regulation since October 25th before this... October 25th!!! Think about that for a second
Rangers need to have a pizza party. Pizza makes everything better. You can't be unhappy at a Pizza Party.
Well I guess there is a reason this team has been crap for 75 plus years.
It's like rooting for the Cubs, Browns, Mets, Nets, Jets.....
What gets me is that Sather makes assumptions .He assumes that Lundqvist is going to play better in the future and pays out an outrageous contract. At the time Lundqvist was playing poorly and because of that should have been offered less. If Lundqvist signs with someone else, because there are good goalies available,.we then sign another good goaltender to a less burdensome contract and use the money for other skilled players.Instead we are in dangerous waters and losing a year, possibly more.
Sather should Hire Bossy, Gillies and Potvin to coach this team. Then they would have scoring, toughness and defense.
I don't think Talbot has done anything wrong. I think the idea here is to let Hank play out of his funk... but after 8 in a row it has not worked. Clearly I think Talbot will be playing Saturday or Sunday.
@Wallace1Yes, Talbot did something wrong. He had 1 bad game. and if you're a rookie and you have a bad game, or even a bad play for that matter this coach benches you for life, or demotes you. I hate him. that bad was a game hank clearly should have started, just like tonight, 2 days after hank got clobbered and complained of a stiff neck Talbot clearly should have started. You need your coach to make all the right decisions. this one makes all the wrong ones. I hope he's gone tomorrow.
@KreiderisTheChosenOneHey man, Manning has deserved every penny of his contact, IMO. But that's another discussion. Let's get back on topic about the drinks we are consuming to forget about the Rangers.
Yup said it before, hands off approach doesn't work here. Core guys were only coached one way. AV has to stop the video and get on the ice with them.
Separate issue is ulf was so nasty, I can't figure out what he's teaching them.....
@CallaqvistClitsome is still one of my favorites, same with Brooks Laich
Sorry can't stop ranting. You're so right. We know well never b as good as Ana. StL. Chic. Etc.... But all I want is to watch MY team play like a team. Play hard for one another. Battle every shift every night. Just go out there and give it everything you have.
All Nash teams lack chemistry. I am saying there is a correlation there, but do not know if there is causation.
@KreiderisTheChosenOnePlease pass me the gun
@CallaqvistThey need to have a Munn-fest
- that will get them "up" for the next game
@stRangers fanI'm a Mets fan too :( - it's the same organization. The same idiots with different faces.
Torts had heart and soul
He works under AV......so it's probably his way or no way..... FIRE AV.......
Not saying we don't have roster issues but this coach blows
And the Squirt B league of North America
@Callaqvist@GottalovetheblueI'll be honest. I wanted Torts gone but no one can deny he has heart and soul as well as passion that's contageous - why they had to regress on their choice of replacements. Why. This GM is all about what is on paper. No clue as how that translates to the ice. Offensive coach, good record blah blah. No concept of what is on the inside. 1 dimensional thinker. that is why he built the team he did, and traded who he traded away for Nash. etc. etc.
Not to mention this clown AV plays him for 20 minutes and on PPs... I would rather have the undertaker out there for everyone of those minutws
Hiring AV is like drury redden Gomez. Sather thinks it looks good
Sather has no substance that's why this team won't ever have any with him in charge
Sather would also never hire a coach who would threaten his title
No coach is perfect ( ok maybe bowman) and torts was an asshole but at least he had direction. He was starting to move us in the right direction. He probably needed another assistant for pp and a better gm to tell him to grow up. His firing here just made him a MUCH better coach. I think he'll grow up now.
And again he wasn't too shabby to begin with.
But this organization in its present form is a complete disaster. It's not just one game or one or two missing pieces. It's a cluster f from sather to Clark to coaching staff (except allaire)
The overhaul needs to begin with finding an identity and going from there
