The New York Rangers have called up forward J.T. Miller from the Hartford Wolfpack, according to the team's twitter feed.
Miller, 20, has two points in 15 games with the Rangers this season and was sent down to the Wolfpack on November 26th.
No clear reason has been given yet for the call-up. Miller was previously sent down to the Wolfpack because there wasn't a spot for him in the NHL lineup, and management would of course rather he get top minutes in the AHL than sit in the press box at MSG. With that in mind, it's hard to imagine a scenario where he won't be in the lineup for at least tomorrow's game against the Devils.
It is possible that injury news regarding a forward has not been released yet, making another forward necessary. Another justification for the move might be that Vigneault is unhappy with one of Benoit Pouliot and Taylor Pyatt, who have both struggled to contribute in really any facet this season. One of those two might sit in the press box in favor of Miller, who at a bare minimum can skate well and bring a big of energy. At any rate, Miller has played well with the Wolfpack the last few games and appears to be getting another chance to stick at the NHL level.

Staal is a disappointment this year and I am comparing to before his eye injury-AV didn't see him play at that time. Its a real decrease for Staal .Sad and disappointing.I hope he can get back to where he was. Dan Girardi is done with this new system -trade him. He should be finished with the Rangers with UFA on its way.Get something for him and trade him -bring up McIllrath..Moore has speed and its good for him to develop in AV's system where he can utilize that more than Tort's.
I'm sorry AV never been a Strahlman fan but how do you not give this guy credit for being one of the most dependable dmen all year. Girardi has been giving pucks away all season---find a clip of strals doing it.
Interesting to hear from AV... but I have to say mostly I agree. Only thing is I think Stralman has also played well, but hard to argue that he has given everything he can because of his poor offensive output.
I think it's safe to say that Pouliot & Pyatt will not be high on Slats list of UFA signings.
Hope JT does well and sticks this time. I think his biggest problem is between the ears. I think his belief that he can "do it all", sometimes gets the better of him and a lot of times causes his bad turnovers (he chooses to make the difficult play instead of the better, simpler play a lot)
And I know AV wasn't high on him, but why not call up Bickel while Dorsett is out? Bickel could either dress as a 7th D or 4th liner, get 5-7 mins, and be the tough guy when needed. Like I said before, he wasn't terrible until Torts shattered his confidence.
I hope he won't just rot on the 4th line. Maybe they accidentally "lost" Poop-a-lay and the Sinker (Pyatt) in Buffalo and they're roaming the streets of Cheektawaga in a snowstorm. looking for call girls
JT Miller will bring heart and soul and no stupid penalties but his giveaways-yikes.He needs to work on his scoring so I was hoping he'd stay in Hartford to get that tuned up. Otherwise, tho he is better than Poulliot and Pyatt plus he is only going to improve every game played.
Geeze, I'd rather see them give Kristo a chance than stick with pyatt or pouliot. How much worse can he be?
Did anyone see this? Can anyone share where Kreider is ranked??? Don't have insider account:
I wish they recalled Mash instead! He would be exactly what we need right now.....Oh wait a sec I forgot.........sorry Kev I had to just one last time.
This should be the end of pouliot and pyatt. Enough already with them, trade for a heavy and keep him as the extra forward
Zuc bassard miller would be a good 3rd line. Use Boyle Moore Dorsett as the 4th. Say we trade for gratts use him with Boyle and Dorsett against tough teams
Took long enough. Both of those idiots should be demoted to stick boys they suck and are the most worthless players in the NHL.
I'd be interested in seeing if Dorsett is healthy as well. We could see both Pouliot and Pyatt in the press box next game. See that fourth line of Boyle Moore Dorsett together again and have a third line of Hags Brass Miller. Each of the four lines could have high energy, good skating, solid forechecking...it's something I'm kind of excited about.
This feels like Kreider all over again.... Up down up down up down... Miller is now on the merry go round
I don't know either why they will not try Bickel, other than maybe because he was god awful in camp. His ability to play forward is a plus and we need someone out there like him in some games.
@GiveGartneraCup not on the insider won't pay for it. Can you share rest of rankings?
@papas1175 Based on his level of play this year, Zucc. earned to play on the second line and Cally should be on the third line. That is where he really belong. Lets not sugar coat things Cally have been a disappointment this season.
@KreiderisTheChosenOne Difference is Kreider wasn't really given the chance to play. Miller had ample opportunity but showed he wasn't ready at the time. He's getting another chance, but he'll be back down if he falters again.
Same. I guess they don't want to "hurt his development" by bringing him up. I think they should just give him a try and see what happens. Like I said, can't be worse than the crap Pyatt displays on a nightly basis. If Kristo struggles then oh well, you send him back down to the AHL to address the specific weaknesses in his game.
@Kevin DeLury I could see both being out of the lineup soon, I think Beach was brought here for a reason. I think we'll see him soon honestly
It would be hard to give Kristo 4th line minutes. I think he deserves a shot to see what he can do at this level. I think he's still injured now.
