Tonight's #NYR lineup: Lundqvist starts in goal, Asham and Falk will play, Pyatt and McIlrath will be scratched— New York Rangers (@NYRangers) December 18, 2013
...again, I get the idea of protecting a young player from a team like the Penguins, however, reports out of Pittsburgh are that they've been decimated by injury and suspension including Malkin, Neal and Letang. So they've been winning with a hard working style that has included some dirty play, which makes it even more baffling that AV would want to sit out McIlrath.
...i do feel better knowing there is still some toughness in the lineup with Dorsett, Asham and Falk, but none of them provide the physical presence that McIlrath does.
...i've been completely disappointed with Asham since his recall as he's been an absolute no show. Rangers are going to need him to provide a spark tonight to get into this game early.
Meanwhile, Andrew Gross at the Bergen Record reports that Glen Sather was seen talking with Taylor Pyatt at his locker after practice. The NHL roster freeze starts at 11:59PM tomorrow night and ends at 12:01PM on December 28th.
Here's Alain Vigneault on Pyatt...
"Right now he's on the outside. After training camp he was given a lot of opportunities...and never really got his game going after training camp. Right now he's on the outside looking in, and I'm not quite sure where all that's going to go."
...unless there's another injury, you have to assume Pyatt's days in a Blueshirt are numbered especially with Poopsalot picking up his game of late. With Sather having a conversation with Pyatt, it seems like the Rangers might be intent on removing him from the roster before the freeze tomorrow night.
...i guess not even Pyatt's mesmerizing eyes were enough to distract the organization from his struggles this season.
I wish they tried to trade Pylon after he had a supposedly decent training camp, his value is zero right now, if another actually wanted him they would just wait for him to go on waivers, which should happen in the next week or so
Just get rid of DZ pleaseeee who cares about anything else lol. Geeze he is god awful its actually embarrassing
Not trying to sound like some over-dramatic fan but seriously, what is AV's deal ? Mcilrath should be in the lineup tonight over Falk.
I'm confused. Exactly what kind of team are they supposed to be this year? There's no scoring, no follow through, no spark. At least give the fans something to watch! Ugh!!!!
What the heck can you get for Pyatt?
I'm still confused with Asham's presence here. He is a waste of a roster spot. He's basically just collecting his paycheck. He's on his way out and has almost nothing left to give. maybe McIlrath's hurting after the beating he took? I think all the kids need playing time but maybe tonight is not the right night. maybe they lose badly and his confidence goes south. hell, the whole team is fragile right now.
Hopefully Santa comes early and the Rangers win and then we can all just relax for a friggin' night.....
Well, maybe he wants Diesel to watch a game but I think it's BS. We've been losing because of lack of grit which nullifies what skill we have. It's bewildering.
somehow, with all of the decision making that's been going on, maybe torts had another edge on AV, torts had just one other coach to listen to where AV has three. that's, a lot of buzz going on. also TruBluEsp had it right, if he's (mcilrath) up here , play him because if you can't beat them with their decimated team there's more problems than you can shake a stick at. one more thing, -----the rest of the team has to get tougher AND NOT have to rely on the so called tough guys !!!!
Heard Pyatt is going to use the opportunity of not playing hockey soon to train for the February Olympics. He will an alternate on the US Speed Skating team....
If Asham brings nothing to this game I say send him back down or release him.....Guys gotta bring some edge and grit but most off all AV gotta give him mins. .....
If he doesn't show anything bring up haley
A line up that would include haley.. Dorset and Mcilrathl
Has energy and some toughness in it
I'm ashamed to say watching the flyer game yesterday I can't believe a more talented team like the rangers can't play like that
They stuck up for each other hit everyone and everyone and even their tame defenseman Grossman went after to fight Wilson after he steamrolled shenn
Maybe we should hire Joey kocur as coach so like berube he would be the toughest guy on the bench and our guys would be more scared to fail for repercussions from the coach
@TheNYRBlog Yea,so now their AHL team will be running Hank with no fear of retribution.Lovely.
If you're not going to have him in the lineup every night, taking the good with the bad, letting the kid take his lumps for the sake of experience then send him down so he plays everyday. Done ... end of story. No good reason to scratch the kid if he's up with the big club. Falk over McIlrath doesn't make this lineup any better an Falk is what he is and will NOT get better.
@TheNYRBlog wtf is he thinking ? Some how torts does not look so bad right now
@TheNYRBlog Pens have half of their Ahl team up now. We are hurting in wilkes-barre. Big advantage for the rangers! Go rangers!
Think maybe Phoenix wants him back? It's been a while since Sather his the Don Maloney speed dial button. Remember when they were the Rangers of the west before Columbus stole the title?
Just trying to think who could possibly see something in Pyatt, so an old connection may be a possibility.
@TheNYRBlog It's about time! How many chances is this guy gona get?
Don't players have to clear waivers before the roster freeze is in effect or is it just that they have to be put on waivers before the freeze? If it's the former, then Pyatt couldn't go on waiver because there's not 48 hours left, correct?
Nothing could be more confusing than getting the Broadway hat and then being shown a seat next game. Although I do like Falk's game, I think both of them should be playing. Hopefully, we will see McIlrath on Friday...after another late game debacle, the Islanders look like a powder keg ready to explode and playing the Rangers may give them the spark they need.
Happy holidays Pyatt! AV had to be the only guy rooting for him, since he had him for three years in Vancouver. Now that he seems disgruntled, I think its safe to say he is done.
Just curious. I've read about this roster freeze and it's left me a bit confused. What exactly is it and why does it exist?
@TheNYRBlog "Tell me about the rabbits Pyatt"
I don't know what anyone expects out of Ashum. He is done and has been since he came to the Rangers. Horrible!
When you throw shit at the wall sometimes it sticks... Literaly
@upstate tomDo you think Torts actually listened to Sully?
@gravey94 I thought it was 24-hours.
So everyone can have a Merry Christmas and not have to worry about riding a bus to their next game.
@Nick_Markgjonaj Nice use of that line!
@Bring back LangdonHaley is out with a sports hernia.
