During last night's Hartford Wolfpack 2-1 shootout loss, Dylan McIlrath hurt his knee along the boards and did not return to the game after needing help to get off the ice.
Reports from the game are that McIlrath turned his knee awkwardly.
McIlrath missed half of last season with a dislocated knee cap that required surgery. No word on whether the injury tonight was to the same knee.
...tough break for a young kid who shouldn't have been sent down in the first place. Just another setback for a guy who really can't afford one. McIlrath has obvious deficiencies in his game, so if he has to miss any significant time it'll likely stunt his development and making it that much less likely he gets a legit chance to make the squad out of camp next year.
...when it rains it pours and right now it's a deluge for the Rangers.
Nothing new here than I already knew.. Was hoping on an update on his injury status.. WHY THE HELL WAS HE SENT DOWN IN THE FIRST PLACE?!?
PLEASE!!!! We could use a mean son of a bitch that can score...
Semi-related, and sorry if posted elsewhere, but Gabby broke his collarbone last night - people still want him back?
Dang...what a freaking shame. Hope, its not too serious.
Does he not get hurt if he stays up? Can't think like that...drive ya crazy. "It is what it is, my friend." It happened. Move forward... hope its not too serious...and the kid is back on the ice as soon as possible.
When things start going sideways...they go sideways in a big way.
Haley, heal up soon my fellow tough guy. Don't come back til you're absolutely healed up. Those hernias can be tricky. Because as soon as you're ready....will be shocked if you don't get recalled immediately.
Was at the game last night, very flukey injury...at first I thought it was more of a contusion type thing. Watching the replay last night it didn't look like a tear. Hope not.
@TheNYRBlog Well,this all but ensures they draft a D with their first this year...provided of course Cigarface doesn't throw it away.Again.
Entire Rangers organization:
@TheNYRBlog you know how that couldn't have happened?!?! IF HE WAS UP HERE!!! Sorry for the CAPS, Kevin....clearly frustrated.
I was so angry when I saw this come over Twitter last night . Really hope it's a sprain. NYR has always frustrated me with their development system . 1988-89 Mike Richter finally gets a start in net because John Vanbiesbrouck falls through a glass table and cuts his hand . Bob Frose goes down with a knee injury and Espo has no chance of beating The Pen's in the playoffs . So than we finally bring up Richter ??? Sorry for the rant . Just frustrated with this team since 1980 and still a Die Hard ...
@TheNYRBlog quickly turning into a lost season....
@TheNYRBlog meh, not like itll severely impact his skating/speed. it cant
@TheNYRBlog also they should have these kids take skating for months in off season......its the new NHL...no NON SKATERS!
@TheNYRBlog whole system needs over haul......Kids are NEVER ready to step up unless its to stand there and block shots!! Never skill
@KreiderisTheChosenOnePost on this coming in 3, 2...
@Rwt467Thanks for the update.
@mattydolphinz thats rediculous. bc if he were capable of playing 10 mins hed be here. 3rd liners were schooling him.
@PATR2014 Where's Barb Underhill when you need her.
@KreiOfTheTiger this entire team is being schooled!
@TheNYRBlog Game is all speed now no more clunkers
@TheNYRBlog i agree.......hey Orr improved and Boyle.....but they worked hard on skating....Mccillrath needs to spend months on it
I'd feel really sorry for the audio tech who has to listen to hours upon hours of gum chewing in hopes of getting one or two good sound bytes...
@johnnyb3910Can you imagine how boring a Rangers 24/7 with AV would be?
Which reminds me, HBO will be at MSG tomorrow night. Can't wait to hear the crickets in the stands and the in the locker room
