According to Rick Carpiniello at the Rangers Report, Blueshirts Assistant GM Jeff Gorton was surprisingly present in the press box area where scouts normally sit during Saturday's win against Vancouver.
Carp added that Gorton does not normally sit in that area.
...hmmmmm, Del Zotto returns to the lineup and Gorton is suspiciously working the scouts that very day? Can you say showcase? Assuming Gorton's sales pitch got a lot easier after the defenseman's goal.
Or maybe not...
Other topic, I'm hearing that Michael Del Zotto won't be traded soon. Could take more time than first expected. #rangers— Renaud Lavoie (@LavoieRenaud) December 2, 2013
...i'm real curious how Del Zotto's goal on Saturday played in the Rangers inner circle. Are they hoping it's a springboard to resurrect his season or relieved that it likely increased his trade value?
...will be interesting to see how the next few weeks play out, especially with Falk's impressive influence on the Rangers lineup recently.
I wouldn't mind getting kesler somehow, but he's more injury prone than Callahan...DZ and Girardi for Kesler, then call up Conner Allen
Girardi/DZ package make room for Falk get a serviceable D and a scorer with maybe a pick back. You know damn well torts would sell the farm for getting Girardi back.
Another thought: being this was a Vancouver game any chance they are shopping Dan G. And not MDZ, who fits in better with Torts' system and who is liked more by Torts?
Is it just me or did he look more confident and decicive with the puck last game. I remember watching him play ladt game and thinking he would score, which is a big change from me thinking he'll commit a back breaking turnover every time he touches the puck. He seems likable and his teammates appear to be behind him. Wondering if there is a chance he could actually find his game and become an asset here. That would be best. Just saying. Either way a couple of fairly significant trades are likely to happen pretty soon.
@Wallace1 Not sure about "easily" but he'd be worth a shot!
@Betweentheworlds Very interesting. Would make sense, especially with Girardi's expiring contract.
@Betweentheworlds Been waiting to long for him to "find his game" time to move on.
@Betweentheworlds ...it's just you.
As the game progressed in the 1st I remember thinking to myself that I wouldn't be surprised if DZ scored in this one as he seemed to be playing more decisively. Yeah, Luongo sucked, but given the fact that I never expect him to score ever, except in this contest, and he actually did leads me to believe my comment was not completely off base.
