You know its slow news wise when TheNYRBlog is just posting videos to keep you occupied. Alas, I check in with something that's a bit old but nonetheless worthy of some print.
NHL 14 will have some new features to it, one of them being 'Live The Life' mode where users must maintain a relationship with teammates, the media, fans and their family. If you've played the 'NBA 2K' series, this will look familiar to you. You answer questions from the media and fans and, depending on your answer, will help or hinder your player's teammate chemistry, likability with the fans etc.
Here's the trailer:
- Is 9/10/13 here yet? Aside from it being a day before training camp opens that's when NHL 14 drops. And I'll be checking this new feature out for sure.
- Happy Monday everyone!
- I'm surprised @Herman_NYRBlog hasn't posted his Top 10 Best Celebrity Recipes as an open thread yet.
2 things I noticed in the video:
1) that's the last cup NJ will see
2) why hasn't EA put a neck protector on Lundqvist's mask yet? He's only used it for 8 years and other goalies in the game have them.
The one thing they should have added was suspensions. Simply enough a player can get suspended if they smash someone from behind or blantantly high stick someone, etc.
That would be neat.
You know what blows... that EA is to lazy to make it for the PS4 and I sold my PS3 for money to get the PS4. So now I can't play NHL until 2015 comes out.... Classic EA... fucking joke
I gotta be honest, I think this mode is going to blow. Go out for dinner with friends, -15 wrist shot? You lose nothing by NOT going out for dinner because it's not real life so you just click the professionaly responsible answer all the time and then its like homework. Besides, this whole of life-affecting-peformance is way too complex for EA sports to capture, so it will just wind up being frustrating, unrealistic and repetitive.
I love playing the nhl series but they have to stop adding new modes and not polishing off the old ones. I'm hoping this adds more fun to the game, but I have a feeling it will be all the same questions over and over and will get old fast. In nhl13 Bap i was leading the team in points and playing the first line. I ask for a trade and they said something about me not being worth much and demoted me to the 2nd line. Then we win the cup, I get some trophies and they still say I'm not worth anything. Also I would love to keep playing goalie bap, but the controls and nonsense that goes on makes me want to set my controller on fire!
I've always thought this was an aspect missing from these games. I would like to have team practices that actually effect the on ice play of the scheduled games. to me that stuff is what's missing from these games.
@Scott_from_Jersey if you read it it says "fan shoves you and you fall on wrist"
@Scott_from_Jersey Thanks Johnny Buzzkill. lol
@GLENsatherVSglennDANZIG I'm just gonna be rude to every fan who wants an autograph from me and see how many times I get my ass kicked.
@GLENsatherVSglennDANZIG Looks like they're heading that direction to give gamers a richer experience. It's really cool.
I love the NHL game series. infact it's the only reason I own a game system, but they really need to make these kind of improvements if they want people to continue buying the games. god knows the game has looked the same for the past 5 years. they need to update goalie masks to atleast look similar to the players (I realize there are legal/money issues with using the exact mask they use) but just get close and I'll be happy! also would it kill them to get real player faces on this game!?
