...Torts is absolutely right not getting too high after that win. Despite being a fantastic game to watch, the Rangers were far from perfect. The offense was dormant for most of the game and if it wasn't for Lundqvist they don't win.
...having said that, how many times did we all utter that statement last year. That's how they play. The Rangers offense is predicated from their defense. Unfortunately, they played way too much defense last night and really never established a firm forecheck. If they can actually get themselves through the neutral zone then get in on the puck quicker and harder they're going to be a real tough team to beat down the stretch and hopefully beyond.
...the biggest positive for me with this team right now is they've found their battle level. They're a hard team to play against again. They're grinding out wins unlike earlier in the season when they seemed unable and even unwilling to do so.
Here's the players...
While we would all love to see them dominate every night, the sign of a good team is one that finds a way to win, even when they're not all at their best. This team is doing that now which is the exciting part to me!
Rangers look totally different since the trade. Battle level for sure totally different.
I will say, though, Dubinsky is stirring the pot bigtime with Columbus. Took an instigator to defend Anisimov after he got clocked 17 seconds into the game. Then was all over the place, assisted on both goals. Better player than Clowe, imo..
@TheNYRBlog I wouldn't even say the offense was that bad at times yes but Nabokov played quite well
I agree on defensive time however I thought we played solid in our end all night. For the buzzing I didn't think the isles really has that many stellar chances. There were. Couple like moulsons shot but other than that and the cpl posts I thought we hung in there. We had control up until McDonough took that penalty then we were on our heels.
@TheNYRBlog regardless that was a major, major 2 points last night
@TheNYRBlog zero shots?? torts is nuts...glad they won , but D looked out played
@gravey94 I agree. Even the best teams in the league don't play well every game. Even our second game of the home-and-home with the Pens, we completely outplayed them and had tons of scoring chances, but Fleury was an absolute beast and bailed his team out. Scraping away with a win is just fine in my book.
@rangersfan Hear that. Been only a few games so we have to give Clowe some rope and hope he makes an impact. They gave up a lot for him pick wise so ...
