According to Nick Kypreos at Sportsnet, Marc Staal could be back on the ice within seven to 10 days and return to the lineup before the end of the regular season.
Staal’s eye is healing well and the Rangers' hope is that he can play a few regular season games before the playoffs.

...considering that there was concern Staal may have permanent vision damage, the fact he might be back by the end of the year is a minor miracle.
...and after the plethora of Rangers defensive breakdowns last night, he can't get back in the line-up soon enough.
H/T to reader Josh6.
"Jesse Spector @jessespector
Marc Staal says his fractures have healed, but his vision isn't yet 100%. Getting better, though."
Rangers need Marc Staal, especially the way he was playing before he got the injury.He is a game breaker, a dominating player this year.Far and away the best Dman.Hopefully with the visor he will be fine and able to play as normal soon.
So he will be back in time for next season? Good that's plenty of time to fully heal. I wouldn't hurry back to this team right now anyways. It's unbelievable how this team plays. It's like two different teams that you never know what team is going to show up and play. One game they play their asses off and make people take notice then the next game it's like a rookie team that people tell jokes about. Sad and frustrating to sit and watch.
Staal even possibly coming back is a miracle. He was supposed to be temporarily blind or have head trauma, but he's coming back to the ice soon supposedly....unbelievable.
Apparently, Lundqvist said he was tired last night? Not a good sign... he can't get much rest because we arent in a locked position this year. I dont see a game Biron can start until the Panthers game.... This is bad
@TheNYRBlog Moore played fantastic. He was a steal in the trade.
As others have said he has been really missed. So who sits if he comes back? Also, how long does it take for him to get back to form? Last year was rough when he came back but he was out for half the season. He did not look like himself until perhaps the playoffs but really not until this year.
@TheNYRBlog eventhough they lost i absolutely loved the offensive effort.. puck movement and work in the O zone was very good
@greggray24 Eminger sits of course
@PenaltySh0t Hope you are right. I really like what I've seen from Moore.
