Update, 9:57 a.m.:
So I'm an idiot as Adam quickly points out why Miller needed to be sent to the Whale yesterday...
@thenyrblog Again, to make him eligible for the AHL playoffs!— Adam Herman (@Herman_NYRBlog) April 4, 2013
Larry Brooks at the New York Post reports that JT Miller's wrist, which he injured last month, is still bothering him and was the reason for the recall back to the Rangers after being assigned to the Whale earlier in the day.
Brooks adds that the team wanted Miller to receive treatment on the wrist in New York rather than in Hartford.
...is this confusing to anyone else? They're the ones who sent MIller to the Whale, so why all of a sudden did they realize treatment in New York was better? I think I need to just stop questioning Rangers medical decisions, because I'll never understand them.
...i guess this also explains Miller's drop in play recently.
Haha! Adam beat me to it cause i was about to tell you the same thing. I was just as confused as you were yesterday as I didn't realize the AHL still had a "clear day" roster. I could've sworn they got rid of that with the new CBA but I guess not.
@TheNYRBlog So he'd be eligible to play for Whale in their playoffs if needed. Multiple teams did similar moves.
@TheNYRBlog sending him down makes him eligible for Whale playoff games.
@TheNYRBlog I heard they brought him down to minors and recalled him in one day bc it made him eligible for AHL playoffs
@TheNYRBlog at this point I would leave kreider in ct let him start next year at camp
@TheNYRBlog so he's elligible for the AHL playoffs?
@TheNYRBlog Paperwork since the AHL/NHL cant figure out another way to keep guys eligible for the AHL playoffs!! Its stupid.
@TheNYRBlog Eligible for AHL playoffs
@TheNYRBlog oh god, the things some of you guys obsess about
@TheNYRBlog So he could play in playoffs (AHL)
@TheNYRBlog So that he's eligible for AHL playoffs.
@TheNYRBlog Again, to make him eligible for the AHL playoffs!
@Herman_NYRBlog And I was on the damn Spreecast when you mentioned that. Stupid!
@TheNYRBlog You were drunk, so you're excused.
@Herman_NYRBlog Was it that obvious?
