During Henirk Lundqvist's save on Evgeni Malkin's shootout attempt it looked like he tweaked a hamstring, which he addressed after the game...
"I think I pulled my hamstring a little bit, but it's fine, I think. I don't know what happened. It just hurt...It felt better after a minute or two, so hopefully it's nothing."
...you never like to hear the word "hamstring" as it's always a tricky injury. When I played hockey, I used to pull my hamstring all the time as a goaltender. Very frustrating. But let's hope it's just a mild strain and Lundqvist will be fine down the stretch.
...might make sense to start Biron tonight for precautionary reasons.
Here's video of the injury (1:10 mark)...
Lundqvist also addressed Matt Cooke's slash to his elbow...
"I don't know what he's doing, seriously. Ridiculous. But it's not the first time, right? That's him being him."
...i'm usually loosing my mind when the Rangers don't stick up for one another, especially for Lundqvist, but I think it's different with Cooke. With him, you have to show discipline, because he's looking for the opposing team to lose their cool and take a stupid penalty. And to the Rangers credit they kept their emotions in check with that moron. I did like Clowe going over to him after the agitators' run in with Nash and the Rangers bench. Probably told him "Get back to the kiddie table, before I give you a smack."
...was very impressed with the fight and toughness from the Rangers when the game started to get chippy. Not sure we would have seen that from this team before the trade deadline.
Here's video of Cooke incident by Rangers' bench...
Here's the rest of Lundqvist's post game interview...
Wait so they are trying to say how dirty of a player cooke is, meanwhile they got their players hitting him with sticks from the bench yet that isn't dirty? That kind of thing should get a player straight suspended. Yet no Penalty, which is ridiculous! under no circumstances should a player on the bench be hitting players on the ice, let alone with their stick. It takes alot of balls to turn around and call Cooke at fault or a dirty player after pulling something like that. Even minor leagues would suspend a player for whacking at players from the bench.
What a bunch of sissies the Rangers and their fans are. Dupuis didn't even hit Del Zotto, and it followed after all a race to the puck down in the Ranger's Zone after all. What wasn't shown during that exchange with Cooke was Nash's slash at Cooke from the bench, which is at least an overlooked 5 minute major for initiating a fight while not actually on the ice. The Rangers and their fans are constantly whining about how the other teams are not penalized and how everyone else plays dirty, and in this one instance, Dupuis was called for a penalty that wasn't one, and Nash got away with his crap. Maybe Torterella can squirt a few tears about how a team that consistently wins is arrogant, or maybe he should concentrate on making his team actually play better.
Uhhh that Dupuis thing was pretty ridiculous...trying to take a guy's head off when he's clearly beat you to the puck is uncool.
ummm, i know we all are rangers fans here, but lets not sugar coat this little fact. We did retaliate with Cooke and if there were "real referees on the ice last night Nash would have got a penalty for those antics from the bench and an ejection, and then he never scores. He does some dumb crap when he is pissed off, i have seen it 3 or 4 times now...
Kevin...I was thinking the same thing about Cooke. Normally a guy takes liberties you pund him but that clown wants U to do that to get you off ur game. If you ignore him then he is useless. The guy is a total moron!!!!!
@TheNYRBlog The Penguins announcers are the worst and the biggest bunch of idiots I have ever seen or heard. How do they have jobs ??? Smh
I found it interesting that the refs moved Boyle and Clowe away from their own bench and 'scolded' them - not Cooke, who was near his opponent's bench. I like that Cooke even backed down when Zuccs went after him, too.
@TheNYRBlog if Biron is in net tonight..Rangers better score like 10 insurance goals
I love Cally pushing him away and Jawing with cooke...Great to see Clowe come over as well. !00% agree that a week ago this team would have shit their pants if cooke came near them...
I can't wait till Dorsett is healthy and ready to play. He would of beat the spit out of Cooke last night.
@TheNYRBlog You have a clip of that ass Cooke slashing Hank?
@TheNYRBlog I had thought all week looking at the schedule, that Biron would start tonight. Now I'm positive.
Cooke is a piece of garbage starts things and backs down when challenged. The announcers are atrocious. Oh Nash reaches over and hits him with his stick. If the douchebag would not have gone to the bench that would never happen. Should have gotten a misconduct for that but it's Pittsburgh remember.
@JohnWiseman So there's no problem with Dupuis trying to annihilate DZ after the whistle because Rick Nash slashed Matt Cooke's arm...okay.
@JohnWiseman R u trying to defend the antics of the dirtiest player in the NHL or r u drinking the Penguins/NHL Cindy Crosby kool aid?? Did u not see the slash to hank's arm? There is a reason Cooke got hit by Nash I wish he woulda two handed him across his face. Just like the puss he is he acts tough in a 1-1 game becuse he knows no one will retaliate. He wasn't doing that during the demolition of Wednesday night. As far as dupuis it's no the end result its the intent. If DZ doesn't move out of way last second his head is planted into the front row and he was clearly way ahead of him and had him beat to the puck. Instead of letting up like other classy players do when they can't get to the puck. Dupuis used a prone DZ to take a shot at him typical Pittsburgh fashion.
@JohnWiseman Hey buddy, I don't know what team you are a fan of, but it clearly is not the Pittsburgh Penguins. Because if it was you would actually watch the games, and see how much your players "whine" to the refs, highlighted by your captain Sidney Crosby. Also, btw lets see how far your team goes without James Neal and probably Sidney Crosby... That Iginla pick up seems to be working wonders for you... You guys better just hope you don't get the Flyers in the first round or you will be sent packing. Finally, Fleury is not going to play every game like he did the other night, remember last year in the playoffs.... Yeah safe to say the Pens are not as scary as they were during their 15 game win streak buddy.
@mobilope Couldn't find one.
@Lordstanleybroadway the pens announcers look at the world through black and gold glasses. The flyers announcers are more even keel.
@TheNYRBlog love how those homers calling the game couldn't say anything about the ass slashing Hank
