Andrew Gross at the Bergen Record reports on two lines changes at practice today...
...can cannot for the life of me figure out why Torts likes Richards and Boyle on a line together. Hagelin is going to enter the opponent's zone with the puck and neither of these two will have gained the red line yet.
...having said that, the Brassard line is interesting. Good mix of speed, creativity and physicality.
This morning I posted that Derek Dorsett was going to begin skating this week and I guess this week meant today as he skated for the first time since joining the Rangers.
After practice, John Tortorella discussed his goaltending plan for the final seven games...
“Sometimes you have to make some decisions along the way. When we’re dying on the vine and we’re struggling to get in (to the playoffs), you have to make some decisions that way. Is Hank going to play all these games? Probably not. You got into the season thinking about trying to keep him fresh but when you struggle and as inconsistent as we are, you need to use him in some spots where maybe you’re going to go with Marty. That’s certainly not a negative on Marty but Hank is our No. 1 guy.”
...the Rangers are fighting for their playoffs lives, so now isn't the time to get your backup some work. I have full confidence Hank can handle the workload if Torts decides to play him out.
...if Torts is to play Biron, the Rangers have two games remaining against the Panthers and you have to assume he'll get one of them.
Boyle is useless, don't understand torts's obsession with him, he's slow and brings nothing offensively but let's keep krieder in the minors! Makes total sense!
When do you think Dorsett is ready to play? This can be a huge boost for us going to the post season!
Seriously, Pyatts like a goddamn barnacle just sticking to the underside of this lineup. Got to get this boat out of the water in the off season and get to scrapin'
Doubt we see Lunquest back to back on thu/fri. My money is on him starting tue/thu and Biron on fri (unless we loo... can't even type it ;) )
Always thought Boyle played soft but for some reason I'm a fan. Maybe it was the "beginnings" episode. I'm glad he's playing better. We need his face off expertise!
Cmon guys. Give Boyle a little bit of a break. He is 6'7 and 250 pounds. Its work lugging all that up and down the ice.
Any chance we see these defensive pairings? Girardi McDonagh Stralman Moore Del Zotto eminger Or is Moore stuck in the 3rd pairing for the rest of the year due to.... Well I guess just torts not playing better players, since there is nothing this kid hasn't done... Heck he even threw the body last game. So why not let's give him 8 minutes a game... I personally don't agree with this philosophy, I think you play the hot hand
I think biron gets two games the rest of the way, both against Florida. I know we are in the thick of it but you need to get hank some rest, and you have to have faith in your backup to beat Florida, otherwise he is not a very good backup, or your team is just not that good. I like the lines, but I think you have it backwards... The brassard line is the second line, and Richards is 3rd.
@TheNYRBlog I have to think Biron plays either Thursday or Friday
@greggray24 makes sense to give Biron the start in Buffalo. Its the second of a home/away back-to-back and it's where Biron played the first half of his career.
