Buffalo Sabres asked Jason Pominville to prepare a list of eight teams where he doesn't want to be traded. #NHLTradeDeadline— Patrick Caisse (@PatrickCaisse) April 1, 2013
Pomenville, who has 10g, 13a this season, has another year remaining on his contract at $5.3 million per.
...Rangers need scoring and this guy can put up points. Plus as the current captain of the Sabres, you know he has leadership ability this locker room might need right now.
...on the negative side, his salary is a deterrent and I find it hard to believe the Sabres, who look to be sellers, would be willing to take a Richards or Gaborik in return. Unless the Rangers would offer to eat some of their salary or add Christian Thomas to the deal.
...thoughts on Pominville?
Why aren't we bringing McCoglan and Nicholls up to the whale? I think their whl team have been eliminated from the playoffs. It would be good to see what they got.
All this talk about who should the Rangers trade for at the deadline. I have to wonder if they should be selling and not buying. To give up a young talent like a Christian Thomas to get a guy that's only going to help us get into the playoffs this season would be a shame. We should be looking to build our young talent for next season and beyond.
Why would JP want to come over here and drown in Torts' cesspool. We either need to build a team that can play Torts hockey (since he seems to be unwilling or unable to adapt to his current players) or get a new coach. I'd prefer the latter.
how about jakub voracek ???? one top scorer sticking up for another !!!! that's my type of teamate, not these pussy-ass, non brandon prust rangers who sometimes can't even finish a check because of the body contact or the fact that they might get a ding on their dainty faces. as far as i'm concerned you're no team mate if you can't stick up for one. by the way there have been some exceptions, just not very often.
funny stuff from mattsteeleNJ's twitter feed below if you havent seen it.
No reason Buffalo would take on salary and underachieving players. Its picks and prospects or nothing.
@mikjo344 jo jag har sett det där. Bra det. Men verkar väl otroligt om han skulle hamna i Rangers?
I'd take him. I think I'd rather st. louis though. I'm for any move that will improve out team and our chances.
@JoeTucc26 C'mon, you know the Rangers don't care about there not being a position open for him. lol
@TheNYRBlog they'd want a prospect or picks more though
@TheNYRBlog not worth the 5mil cap hit.
@TheNYRBlog if wecan send Boyle and maybe Strahlman the other way to match money, might work
@TheNYRBlog yes, great winger to play with Cally. Question is, who would rangers ship out?
Not sure why the Sabres would want to help us, but I'd love Pominville. Could they throw in Ott too?
Interesting, but I think we already have too many Chiefs, not enough Injuns. We need more Prustiness... ;)
What's Pyatt's cap hit? any chance he can get included in deal with a prospect?
The one positive to trading for a guy with one year left on his contract is he becomes an alternate option for a buyout after this season. Would be a waste, obviously, to essentially pay a guy like Pominville $6 million for 14 games, but its an option.
@TheNYRBlog Absolutely. Who wouldn't. Skilled, leader. We need depth on all fronts. As long as it doesn't cost any Grade A prospects.
@TheNYRBlog All ranger trades start and end w/ the Gaborik,,he has to be traded to sum1 in order to give the rangers any wiggle room
@hybben83 Näe, hade han vart UFA i år så kanske.
@mwbarton55231 Rangers could fit Pominville without giving back salary.
@IMLazzaro WOuld have to be Richards or Gabby to fit Pominville. No way Sabres want either one.
@johnnyb3910 Pyatt has a year left at $1.55 million per.
@mikjo344 jag syftade snarare på att chansen att VI släpper han till er bör vara liten.
@TheNYRBlog would they want to? PVille has 1 yr lft at $5.3mm
@TheNYRBlog agreed. Vanek for Gabby though?
@mikjo344 ja, men de är en modifierad NTC. Han kan bara neka 8 lag.
@hybben83 Haha, ja jag såg han hade NTC också.
@TheNYRBlog thanks Mr Islander
@IMLazzaro No way Sabres do that.
@TheNYRBlog for Boyle?
