The Rangers have announced that Michael Haley along with nine other members of the CT Whlae have been recalled for the playoffs. Haley, however, will be the only one who will practice with the Blueshirts and travel with the team to Washington for the start of the 2013 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
The others, who include Dylan McIlrath, JT Miller, Christian Thomas, Brandon Segal, Brandon Mashinter, Ryan Bourque, Stu Bickel, Cam Talbot and Jason Missiaen, will skate on their own as a Taxi Squad of Black Aces in case they are needed as the playoffs progress.
...this move has me kind of worried about Clowe's status to start this series. I mean, why else would Haley practice with the team if Newbury's already been recalled? Assuming we'll get a full and thorough injury report on Clowe from Torts tomorrow. LOL!
Found this on line:
In The Hockey News playoff preview issue, they note that the Rangers have a combined 799 games of playoff experience.
The 799 games ranks third most in the East behind Boston and Pittsburgh.

Even if Clowe plays, I'd still be in favor of Haley playing. It's the playoffs....we need every hitter and banger we have in the line-up....and not just rely on a few players to throw the body. Haley will punish guys on the glass any chance he gets.
What about Dorsett? I hear him and Ovie don't get along. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3P9lYDZroGY
Unrelated to this post; Hank passes Eddie in NYR shutouts. http://blueshirtsunited.com/posts/3178/historic-shutout-for-team-mvp-lundqvist#. Hank's graciousness proves once again the Rangers are the "classiest team in hockey." Let's Go Rangers!
The Rangers need Clowe in the playoffs. Does anyone know anything other than it's a "body injury"? Was it me or didn't he look like he was being carried out of a bar completely wasted (ie concussed)? Did I read that episode wrong and it was actually a leg injury?
Hope Clowe is okay, but I liked Haley yesterday. It isn't like Clowe has been playing an overwhelming brand of hockey. Other teams are dealing with injuries far worse than the Rangers. They'll just have to find a way.
@McPhee37 that's so out of character for you to say that. Who sits? And if its Newbury, who centers that line?
@Beckfan5 if you're talking about DZ, that would be 0%. If you're talking about Richards, also 0%.
@McPhee37 @Josh6 @rangersfan Mcphee was touting Haley before he came up and when he did, he impressed. He's exactly what they need from a 4th line guy; Muck it up, forecheck, hit, get in faces, disrupt the other teams game. and i was impressed with his skating. In the playoffs, you want a guy that the other team will hate. Thats Haley, hopefully.
You know why I like Haley.....he does his job. He hits, he fights...he punishes people on the boards. If used properly...he is a weapon. How many players on this team hit...and when I mean hit...I mean make the boards shake....Cally....Powe. It;s playoff time. You have to hit...and hit often..
You're worried about dumb penalties? How many dumb penalties did he take when he was up with the big club? I'll help you out with the answer....ZERO.
You know what I'm worried about during the playoffs? Players who will be defensive liabilities on the ice...players who will play out of position....and do something stupid that will lead to a game winning goal......that will lead to him being benched and his ice time slashed. Like Kreider did last year.
The only reason the Senators were able to stay in the series with us last year was because they changed tactics after Game 1...and made the rest of the series a physical , nasty one. Torts screwed up...should have dressed Scott in Game 2. ...but didn't. They went after us, gained momentum from it....and it became a draining 7 game series.
I'm a big Haley supporter because of the way he plays. And lo and behold....look who made the trip Washington? You may not understand why I like him...but Torts does. :)
@McPhee37 @rangersfan yea, what happens if haley is in there for Kreider last year. I want Kreider, and not only because of his scoring. With this lineup we have played our best hockey of the year. The only players that should be coming in, without injury are Boyle, Dorsett and Staal. You dont mess with something that is working. I dont know why you are all for this guy... he is a career AHLer, and a dumb penalty against this team immediately costs us. They have the best PP in the NHL. I dont want any dumb retaliation calls.... they will kill us if we give them any unnecessary PP time, especially with our current pk
No business on the ice? Absolute nonsense. Haley did more than an adequate job when he was called up. He can skate, he can hit, he can intimidate and protect.
Yeah, Kreider's been here before...and he's been benched in the same situation. Haley's offense? Nobody cares. It's his physical play that's important. You can't go through the playoffs with only two or three guys taking the body. Haley does his job...and unlike Kreider...he does his job every shift. He hits. He punishes Dmen on the forecheck. This is what we need.
Play time is over Josh. The playoffs are about to begin. It's time to put men in the line-up and take the boys out.
