Friday night should have been a memorable game for Jesper Fast after scoring his first goal in North America in his first game with the Whale. Instead, Fast apparently sustained an injury in the third period and not only didn't return to that game (or salute the fans when named the 3rd star), according to Bob Crawford he didn't play in the Whale's 3-2 win last night because he's "banged up."
...hope it's not too serious. Never a good sign when a player can't come out to salute the fans after being named a star. Hopefully he was just receiving treatment and wasn't available for the curtain call.
...Fast has the talent to push for a roster spot on the Rangers next season, he just needs a better understanding of the North American game so any prolonged absence could set his development back.
Meanwhile, to last night's game, Chris Kreider had the primary assist on Brandon Segal's game winner against Rick DiPietro's Bridgeport Sound Tigers.
The assist was Kreider's third in two games since being re-assigned to the Whale.
...would I like to see Kreider scoring goals? Sure. But not going to complain about this new found play making ability.
Fast has injury history including a broken leg a couple of years ago. He also missed a good deal of time this year with injuries.
After watching the team transform with Brassard, Zucc and Clowe, it serves as a little bit of a reminder of how far Kreider and Miller have to go before they're legit top six forwards in the NHL. Not a knock on them necessarily, they're young, but more of a knock on us, the fans, that expected them (fantasized about them) being NHL caliber today.
@shishya100 uh no - Marion Gaborik reprise. Maybe he should change his last name again - to "Pussy"
What bothers me is Miller looked better than Kreider. I still believe torts fucked with his head and changed his game. He was a stud in the playoffs, and all that was gone at the start of this season. He had no game from what he showed us in the playoffs, not one moment. Now how the hell does that happen? I can understand if he was in a scoring slump and was still creating chances but lets face it Kreider looked like shit 90% of the time he was on the ice for the Rangers. Baffles me how he can be so dominate in the PLAYOFFS , the playoffs to looking like he doesnt even belong in the nhl, baffles me
