Andrew Gross at the Bergen Record reports that Derek Dorsett (fractured clavicle) shot the puck with with some power, which was a major upgrade from even the day before when he said he hoped to begin shooting within the “next week or so.”
Dorsett had indicated after he began shooting he'd start participating in contact drills.
...this goes against my normal thinking, but even if the Rangers have a long winning streak going when Dorsett is cleared to play, I think he needs to get in the line-up right away. Asham and Pyatt have been basically useless this season and Dorsett has a hard, grinding game that is perfect for the playoffs. If the Rangers get there that is.
Here's Dorsett on the injury the other day...
@TheNYRBlog Pyatt couldn't play for my sons squirt team but it will be kreider
I still don't get the double standard - everyone can't seem to wait to meat mouth the giraffe when he plays badly or seems timid and yet that's been pylon all year and he's been given a pass by fans and coaches alike?!? Heck everyone of the call ups have played harder and contributed more...
@TheNYRBlog agreed, I'm so annoyed Pyatt is getting more ice than Kreider!
Aside from a couple of goals early what has pylon done - he's so NOT strong on the boards he makes boyle look like a stud, he doesn't crash the net, he looks lost on most plays and doesn't shoot... O and he doesn't check or stand up for his teammates!
Asham or Pyatt? Where have you been for the past four months? Tortorella probably personally takes care of filling up Chris Kreider's gas tank every night in hope's that he'll need it to drive back to Hartford the next morning.
Pyatt hasn't even come close to living up to what was expected of him (minus the few goals he scored early in the year) but he's got a good track record in the playoffs. And in Tortorella Land, he has his coach's trust, and quite frankly, the one thing we'll need to last in the playoffs is a 4th line that Tortorella will actually play. Pyatt/Asham/Powe is the only 4th line I can recall in the past few weeks that Torts gave a regular shift to.
@TheNYRBlog how can Torts have Pyatt on third line and Kreids on fourth line--that's nuts.
@TheNYRBlog At least Pyatt doesn't hurt us.Strong on the wall, wins puck battles, nothing ever comes of it tho. He and Powe, similar fates.
The fact that Richards has played the way he has the last two games with Pyatt on his line makes his play look even more promising
@TheNYRBlog Pyatt yes, Asham's a tough guy, he needs to be in the lineup so other teams dont push us around
I haven't given up in this season but I am really looking forward to this new group of guys with a full preseason and a healthy group o Staal Dorsett Moore Clowe Brossard
I totally agree in Pyatt and though Asham doesn't score he works so hard and seems to keep the pick in the offensive zone when he's on the ice. Pyatt on the other hand is a complete non factor
@TheNYRBlog I've only been saying this for a month.
@TheNYRBlog agreed. Honestly think anyone inserted into the lineup would be better than those 2.
@TheNYRBlog - Agree on Pyatt, but Dorsett turns Asham into an asset. Asham can play Dorsett's game, he just can't play it alone.
@TheNYRBlog you forgot to include Powe in the useless list.
Asham skates well and adds some toughness, but Pyatt is useless. I'd take Asham out for Boyle though, no question.
@IMLazzaro Dorsett has only been on the team for a few weeks.
@MoonbatCatnip Not convinced but I'd be willing to get behind that.
@TheNYRBlog I meant with anyone though. Miller, McIlrath, shit I'd take Bickel over both of them right now.
