Rangers Home-Grown Team

Written by Kevin DeLury on .

tyutinCBS Sports ranks the Home-Grown Teams (three lines, two defensive pairs and two goaltenders) of all 30 franchises and puts the Rangers at #12. These lineups don't include undrafted free agents, only drafted players.

So what does the Rangers line-up look like...

Ryan Callahan-Brandon Dubinsky-Carl Hagelin
Artem Anisimov-Derek Stepan-Chris Kreider
Lauri Korpioski-Dominic Moore-Nigel Dawes

Marc Staal - Michael Del Zotto
Fedor Tyutin - Marek Zidlicky

Henrik Lundqvist - Al Montoya

...one thing really lacking with this lineup is a big time offensive star. But in the Rangers defense, when you're always drafting in the middle of the pack it's very hard to find that elite player. Hoping Kreider is the exception.

...man that Zidlicky for Tomas Kloucek and Mike Dunham deal was awful. Almost as bad as Tyutin for Zherdev.

...i know this ranking means absolutely nothing, but with players such as Miller, Bourque, Thomas, St. Croix and McIlrath expected to make the club in the next few years, this home-grown line-up will only grow stronger.

...thoughts? Anyone left off?

I don't think the Tyutin for Zherdev deal was that bad at all, even with the benefit of hindsight. We NEEDED some scoring punch, and Z gave us that right away. I mean, he came in and tied for the team lead in scoring. Tyutin certainly wouldn't have hurt the D, but we haven't exactly been trying to replace him ever since. Tyutin would have been getting 3 mil per through last season too, and I think the cap space gave us more help then

We get too spoiled by Glen Sather dealing the stuff he finds in his ashtray, and an overpaid player for the moon, the sky and the stars. The Z for Tyutin deal was a pretty fair hockey trade I'd say.

I don't get the timeline for this?  Is it supposed to be 1998 forward?  Because they have Malhotra listed as a scratch.  Would be interesting to see this list in another 3 or 4 years.  It does show that the Rangers had some pretty brutal drafts i the early 2000's.

Yes I am one of THOSE fans but I'm going to ask the question anyway - how do you put Nigel Dawes over Petr Prucha? Or is it because Dawes, I believe, played more in Hartford than Prucha did?

Brian Leetch, Doug Weight, Tony Amonte, Mike Richter, Alex Kovalev would make the roster more offensive.

@KCinMN98 Obviously the all-time homegrown team would look a lot better.
