Rangers #2 in ESPN Preseason Rankings
Written by Kevin DeLury on .
While this may be an exercise in futility, ESPN.com released their preseason rankings today and the Rangers landed at #2...
2. Rangers - Adding Rick Nash to an already stellar defensive club, which boasts the defending Vezina Trophy winner in Henrik Lundqvist, suggests the Rangers are ready to the take final step to legitimate Cup-contender status. The lockout is also beneficial for the Rangers as Marian Gaborik continues to rehab from offseason shoulder surgery.
...nothing better than me depressing you guys on a Monday by posting this crap.

If there's a long enough delay to the season, do you think that the 'almost' trade of Boyle for Gaborik (Bucci reported that, I think, so if there's dispute to that take it up with him :)) could happen? Does that trade even make sense for both sides? I'm skeptical to how that benefits the Sharks (whereas Rangers get a solid veteran leader + PP guy major minutes logger?) given that our D depth is pretty thin.

Ben; Agreed that it's a deal that would seem to benefit the Rangers more than the Sharks. With all due respect to Gaborik he is a guy that has struggled to produce in the playoffs and has durability issues. Boyle, meanwhile is a Cup winner and would certainly be welcome on Broadway with old pal Brad Richards. Don't see the Sharks going that route at all.
.......... HA
@TheNYRBlog Hahaha, like ESPN knows anything about hockey. Thanks for the smile my friend.
@ScottyHockey @TheNYRBlog espn and hockey is the biggest joke, 5 minutes dedicated to it during the season and barry melrose doing analysis
@slerner94 Yeah, I tweeted to Wysh yesterday to let Yahoo know to remove the games - makes them look bad.
@TheNYRBlog Honestly, I'm not finding it too trying. Watching hockey every morning & planning road trips. Good riddance to greedy bastards.
@TheNYRBlog Whats stupid is,right before the season starts back up,they will put out new ones in a different order #espndontknowhockey
@TheNYRBlog I think the fact that yahoo has this on their homepage today is worse http://t.co/oU2KIL4Z
