Quick Start to the Season for McColgan

Written by Kevin DeLury on .

mccolgan2Jess Rubenstein at The Prospect Park reports that just two games into the WHL season, Rangers prospect Shane McColgan (2011 - 5th) already has a shootout goal as well as two power play assists to lead his Saskatoon Blades to a 2-0 start.

Rubenstein adds that McColgan's new team, he was traded from Kelowna to Saskatoon this off-season, has put him in a position to succeed...

"Maybe too much was expected from McColgan in Kelowna but in Saskatoon; McColgan doesn't have to try to carry the Blades on his 5'9 170 lb. shoulders. The Blades are using McColgan with Brenden Walker (26-55-81 last season) and Matej Stransky (39-42-81) so expect McColgan to pile up the points this year."

...despite all the doom and gloom around here with the lockout, it doesn't change the fact that the Rangers have a large stock of exciting prospects that The New York Rangers Blog will be following all season. While the future of the NHL is uncertain, what I can tell you is that once the league starts back up the Rangers future is in very good hands.
