Pashnin Taken Off Ice in a Stretcher (Updated with Video)

Written by Kevin DeLury on .

Update, 6:02 p.m.:

Here's video of hit courtesy of reader KurtBalogh (5:35 mark)...

...looks like the players in the KHL don't care about each other's well being either. Good to see him move his head at the end.

Original Post:

Pashnin, who decided to forego signing an NHL entry-level deal with the Rangers last summer for the KHL, remains on the Blueshirts' reserve list indefinitely and is expected to remain in Russia for this season. The Rangers are not actively pursuing him at the current time. He currently plays for the rebuilt Lokomotiv Yaroslavl of the KHL.

...while my first concerns are about Pashnin's health, I do have to wonder how long it took for his KHL medical staff to get the stretcher on the ice.

kevin, i havent seen much khl but it looks like great hockey. In my opinion the NHL needs to expand the rinks like Euro hockey. The speed is amazing, these guys are flying out there and it seems like the game is more open. Anyone else agree?

yeah its great.  all that open ice for players to pick up speed and decapitate each other.  that's some scary shit.  Human anatomy and physiology have not kept up with the speed and size of this game and it is only a matter of time before someone is killed.  what an odd takeaway from that video.

@AnnoyingJoe Why would you not want to watch a faster more exciting game? I have no pity for these players they get paid a ton of money and they damn well know the risks.... And the only other thing I took from this video is Pashin should have had his fuckin head up.

wow.  the players get paid a "ton" of money because they generate a "megaton" of money for the owners. You know, the owners who instituted rule changes without any regard for player safety in order to generate "megatons" of $.  And the these players convulse on the ice in front of their families/wives/children as their brains desperately try to reboot.  Their way to make a living for themselves and their famiiies/wives/children is in jeopardy, if not their very existence, and all we can say is keep your fuckin head up?
