...well so much for the team unity I was praising so much in my previous post.
...got to say I'm a bit disappointed. Not the best way to endear yourself to your new fanbase.

According to TSN, Rick Nash and his agent denied the reports that hes confirmed to go to Davos.
It was reported in Switzerland that Nash is LIKELY to go overseas and play for Davos but that must have been one reporter assuming it rather than ever knowing any facts.
From what it looks like, the entire NY Rangers team are meeting with each other next Monday to see what the game plan is. Nash should be included in on this.
Honestly though, I am sure most of them (with a contract) will go overseas to play. Getting 2-3x a week of ice time (and i am sure thats being lucky) and just scrimmaging or skating around is not ideal for a hockey player. These players need to be in a structured environment and need to be competing at a high level. I would like to see Nash and some of these guys head over to keep in shape and game form.
Renting an arena for some open hockey will not keep him in game form
I gotta disagree Kevin. This is about ending the lockout. If a bunch of the stars leave, it is a statement to ownership that they don't need them. Sure, playing in the NHL is the best, but if it's on shitty terms, all the talent will leave and make other leagues stronger. Nash already practiced in a full uniform and walked dogs with tortorella. Good enough.
Plus this is from ESPN and he hasn't actually left yet. Could be posturing too. If all the stars said it at the same time, it would kick the owners in the ass. Look at Lin and the Knicks. That TWC dispute would've blocked hockey all year if a tall asian from Harvard didn't dunk a few times... Strange times we live in...
@brian2686 How dare you disagree with me. I run a blog, I know everything. lol.
Actually you makes some good points. If he is posturing, I've got applaud him for his strategy.
I'd love to see all the NHL players go overseas and abandon the NHL altogether. Why shouldn't these players have the right to earn a living, even if it is elsewhere? Gotta do what you gotta do to keep a roof over their heads and bread on the table.
Rest of the team has said they will stick around and practice together. Looks like he's not a team player.
I'd prefer the entire team playing hockey someplace over the lockout as opposed to skating in circles at Chelsea Piers. Perhaps if Nash winds up being the only player from the team to play elsewhere does the argument that he's destroying team chemistry begin to make sense but it's hard to imagine other Rangers won't also find places to play. I think if you polled every Ranger player they'd be perfectly fine with it. They're adults and Nash is a vet.
What, there all supposed to stick around and play "shinny" in the practice facility up in Westchester??!! These guys need to stay sharp.
@Iron Mike They can't even play at the practice facility, that's part of what they're locked out from. They'll need to collectively pay out of their own pockets for rink time someplace else.
Just a difference of opinion. Nash is one of the best players in the NHL. He'll be sharp. More worried about developing chemistry.
@TheNYRBlog @WeBleedBlueNYC Bolting to Europe? I'd do the same. I think you're totally off-base. Rather him stay in game shape.
@GardenFaithful @WeBleedBlueNYC Rather him develop chemistry with new teammates. Just a difference of opinion.
@TheNYRBlog I agree with your assessment of Nash leaving. doesnt look good on his part when the whole team is together and he's not
@TheNYRBlog @GardenFaithful @WeBleedBlueNYC Nash isn't the only Ranger who is going to play in Europe. Nobody is angry Hagelin is going.
@TheNYRBlog @gardenfaithful @webleedbluenyc playing at a lower skill level shouldn't help him. He can stay in hockey shape training here.
@TheNYRBlog Don't think a few optional skates at a local rink are going to build chemistry. Not like they're all playing in AHL together...
@TheNYRBlog in the end..it's all about the #money. Fact of life in hockey & everything else in life.. #togetherness don't pay the rent
@GardenFaithful @FairStBlueshirt Agreed, but the perfect amount of both gets you a Stanley Cup.
@GardenFaithful @thenyrblog I agree that, at full strength, this team is more talented than in 2006. #indisputable
@TheNYRBlog @FairStBlueshirt 06 team didnt lose due to a lack of chemistry. Point is chemistry gets you so far. Need goals.
@TheNYRBlog I'm 100% for bonding but highly likely there's no "this season." Nash won't be only one "bolting" if this goes much longer.
@TheNYRBlog @gardenfaithful @karlstanton I CAN talk about the EPL if you want...
@TheNYRBlog @gardenfaithful @karlstanton I think we could find about a million people among the twitter ranger fans who would gladly oblige.
@GardenFaithful @FairStBlueshirt Wait you were just talking Stanley Cup, now you're ok with a first round sweep to Devils?
@TheNYRBlog @FairStBlueshirt @karlstanton I think we're all little too emotional. Feel like a girl on her period. Just need our hockey back.
@GardenFaithful @karlstanton @thenyrblog no but it couldn't hurt. #bowchickabowwow
@TheNYRBlog @FairStBlueshirt Nash going to Europe isn't going to make them "chemistryless." None of 06 NYR practiced together. Ended up OK.
@GardenFaithful @FairStBlueshirt @karlstanton But what if they need each other to wash their backs.
@FairStBlueshirt @karlstanton @TheNYRBlog He's been hanging out with them all summer. Don't need to shower together to build chemistry.
@GardenFaithful @FairStBlueshirt And could be out of the playoffs this year with another chemistryless team.
@karlstanton @thenyrblog @gardenfaithful right, because when the season starts up, the games will go just like they practiced.
@TheNYRBlog @FairStBlueshirt Exactly. Still came up short. Needed more goals; if Nash feels this will help him prepare for season, do it.
@TheNYRBlog @gardenfaithful @fairstblueshirt It's not the same team as last year, and we need to practice like one. But hey, Europe = $.
@GardenFaithful @FairStBlueshirt No accident that closest team since 1994 made it to Conference Finals last year.
@FairStBlueshirt @TheNYRBlog Exactly. If hanging out together wins you Stanley Cups the Rangers would have more than one in past 72 years.
@TheNYRBlog @gardenfaithful hey, you guys wanna play NHL 13 tonight? Heard that, if we do, we can win the Stanley Cup next year...
@TheNYRBlog @GardenFaithful I’m with ya Kev. That’s the whole point of ‘captains practices’ it’s team building
@GardenFaithful More than that.Just hanging out with the guys, developing trust in each other.
@TheNYRBlog @WeBleedBlueNYC Guy wants to play; can't see anything wrong with that. Team doesn't have take baths together, just play hockey.
@TheNYRBlog @webleedbluenyc I'm glad he's more concerned with being in game shape whenever this ends than running a PR campaign.
@GregJKrieg @WeBleedBlueNYC So depressing. Especially because Rangers should be legit this year.
@TheNYRBlog @webleedbluenyc Fair. He could wait a few weeks, prob, but who knows what Davos wants, etc. Bigger point: Let 'Em Play!
@GregJKrieg @WeBleedBlueNYC Didnt say he was doing anything wrong, I just feel better chemistry w/ teammates will help him score those goals
@TheNYRBlog @webleedbluenyc Point's that no one is doing anything wrong; Nash is here to score goals, not to "endear" himself to folks.
@TheNYRBlog @webleedbluenyc They're doing what they want. It's cool. But I'd hope they'd look for real games if this things drags on.
@GregJKrieg @TheNYRBlog any NHL players looking to play can skate with our beer league team if they don't want to go overseas
