In the past few years I've seen some of the most unlikely people around here start turning into serious NHL fans- and I'm NOT talking about people jumping on the recent success bandwagon. I've even been seeing some entering the hockey fan life as Isles fans o_0I've been hearing about the game expanding. I've been hearing about increased revenues. I just don't understand the philosophy here. I'm saying it for the hundredth time: There is no need for the owners to lockout the players. They have only been making money- and could continue making money during negotiations. A lockout just makes almost everything about hockey downgrade. Bullshit.
Again, the THIRD lockout since '92 ...
Since the 2004-05 lockout "the revenue went from $2.1 billion to $3.3 billion, so the league is making a lot of money ... now the league is upset with the hockey-related revenue ... [the players] get 57% ... and the owners, who basically won during the last lockout -- they got a salary cap, they got salary rollbacks -- they're the ones who agreed to the 57% and now they're saying, 'hey, this isn't fair' ... a lot of animosity to the owners for sure ..... the owners are the ones who are giving out these salaries ... it's almost like they're asking the players to save the owners from themselves, again! "
