McDonagh Turns Down European Offer

Written by Kevin DeLury on .

Michael Russo at the Star Tribune reports that Ryan McDonagh recently turned down a really good offer from a team in Europe.

...McDonagh might be regretting that decision in a couple of weeks when there's still no NHL hockey and that offer isn't on the table anymore.

...i criticized Nash for leaving his Rangers teammates too early for Europe, but he'll likely be the smart one when other NHL players are scrambling to find a European team as the lockout drags on while he's already got one locked down.

@TheNYRBlog So does this mean you're letting Nash out of the dog house?

@wishinonehand Ha! He was never in my doghouse, just disappointed in his decision at the time.

Can't keep you happy, huh? ;-) Honestly, I'm surprised he turned it down too but I guess he wasn't ready to jump overseas just yet. Something tells me if he decides he wants to go, he'll still find something.

Its unfair to criticize McDonagh for this. Obviously its a potential opportunity lost; however, if there really is a year long lockout there will likely be plenty of other offers on the table for him. Plus what happened to you wanting the group to stick together? With the exception of Nash and mdz who else has jumped ship at this point? Gotta give #27 props IMO

@ATCRyan I wouldn't say I'm criticizing McDonagh, just saying he might regret decision.

In regards to my thoughts on Nash, I made it clear that if after a few weeks the lockout was still dragging on I couldn't criticize a player for leaving.
