More on Sauer here including this quote from the Rangers defenseman...
"It's been a day-to-day thing," Sauer said. "I have to talk to the trainer and see where he's at, what he wants me to do, and obviously (Tortorella) is that way, too. We'll gauge how I'm feeling on the ice, but obviously I want to get back to feeling more strength so I can get back in practice and participate with the team, get some contact and see how (my shoulder) handles that."

Andrew Gross tweets out this pic from Whale practice of Staal...
Dan Rosen at NHL.com says the Rangers will be going with a skeleton line-up when they take on Frolunda at 1pm today.
Scratches include Marian Gaborik, Brad Richards, Artem Anisimov, Ryan Callahan, Brandon Dubinsky, Derek Stepan, Ruslan Fedotenko, Dan Girardi, Ryan McDonagh, Steve Eminger and Mike Sauer.
Rosen adds that that Dylan McIlrath and Blake Parlett, who has not played in a preseason game yet, will draw in on defense for McDonagh and Eminger. Girardi who didn't play last night is out again today.
Sean Avery (foot) and Brian Boyle (flu) are both expected back in the line-up.
...well looks like Hank will have to be at his best against his old team with not much star power in front of him today.
...do we need to start getting concerned about Girardi now?
Sauer, who worked on solo drills with Jim Schoenfeld today, says his goal is to play in one of the last two preseason games, but he can't say that for sure yet. He's feeling much better.
