...just 40 shots and two goals in two games for the Whale. Not very good offensively. Hurts not having their top two offensive players in Kreider and Hrivik in the line-up. Again, nothing on the scoreboard from Thomas.
...solid game from Stajcer, who might have the best chance to be Hank's heir apparent.
Here's video highlights...
Hank is only 30, Stajcer is 21. Unless Hank does something totally insensitive to us legions of fans like getting hurt or retiring to spend more time with family, he's got a good 5-10 years ahead of him. Unless the Rangers are planning to go through another Mike Dunham phase, I don't think they have Hank's replacement drafted yet. Stajcer could be Biron's replacement or (more likely) trade bait to bring in some additional talent or picks. Plus I don't think Stajcer would hang around for 5 years hoping to replace Hank.
@gravey94 While, I don't think the Rangers organization is convinced Stajcer is the guy, a schedule of three years with the Whale then 2-3 years as Hank's backup isn't all that far-fetched. But as you state, will Stajcer be patient enough to hang around? Not sure.
@KevinDeLury I agree it's not far-fetched, but I think the stars have to align for that to happen with Stajcer. I just don't think his career path will line up with Hank's heir apparent's path. I'm guessing they will try to find a couple of new prospects in this year's draft.
