Rangers Assign Erixon, Newbury to Whale; Recall Deveaux
After yesterday's game the Rangers assigned Tim Erixon and Kris Newbury to the CT Whale.
Erixon was pointless and a minus two in nine games so far this season, while Newbury was pointless with 24 penalty minutes while playing in six games with the Blueshirts.
To replace Newbury, according to Carl Hagelin (someone's getting a call from the Rangers PR staff) the Rangers have recalled Andre Deveaux...
...i thought Erixon has actually been pretty good so far this season, but I can't argue that spending some time with J.J. Daigneault isn't the best thing for him right now. Not sure if they'll recall anyone. Probably just go with Woywitka.
...as far as Newbury goes, he has been a disappointment after what I thought was a very strong camp from him.
...got to say I'm surprised with the Deveaux recall. He's a big, strong kid, but this team needs a little speed and Deveaux does not have it. Guess the Rangers may be a little more worried about Rupp's knee than they've been leading on.
...also waiting on the announcement that Christensen has been waived. Seriously, what is the point of having him on the team right now. Zero points, one shot on goal, two hits and 0-for-2 in shootouts in six games. I dare someone to give me a reason why he should still be on the roster.

Larry Brooks Just this note. Even in very unlikely event NYR would consider recalling Avery, he could not be here for Mon game v SJ 'cause of re-entry.
